Kurt Baker rocks the Western Prom this Wednesday

We’re half way to the freakin’ weekend so why not celebrate by having a little bit of fun? There’s tons of partying to be done this evening, so check out your options and get out there and do it to it!

I truly do not like being a realist, but these summer evenings will be winding down sooner than we think so we might as well take in as much music outside as we possibly can. If you’re looking to enjoy a cold one out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company on Commercial Street, tonight is just the night to do so as they welcome Eric Bettencourt and a couple of his pals to the stage. Starting at 6, you can check out Betts as he teams up with Seth Kearns and Adam Frederick for some good tunes and good times out on the deck for free.

If you’re in the Seacoast area this Wednesday evening, be sure to check out a great free show in Prescott Park down in Portsmouth, NH this evening where pop-folk artist Dar Williams will be performing. Tonight’s event gets underway right around 7 o’clock, so check it out.

More in the way of outdoor music to enjoy will be occurring out on the El Rayo patio in Portland where classic Cuban music makers, Primo Cubano, will be playing their weekly gig out in the summer sunshine starting right around 7 this evening. Tonight’s event is all ages, free, and guaranteed to be a good time to enjoy some delicious Mexican fare paired with some lively Cuban tuneage.

Lorraine Bohland and Terry Foster team up tonight to infuse your Wednesday chock full of jazz, blues and R&B classics down at Gingko Blue on Fore Street in the Old Port. Check out this talented pair of musicians as they provide the soundtrack for your midweek wind down starting right around 7 o’clock.

I’m going to head on over to the Western Prom in Portland right around 7:30 tonight check out my pal Kurt Baker rock some of his power-pop tunes on the ol’ acoustic guitar for this week’s installment of the Sunset Acoustic Series. Tonight’s event is all ages, free and certain to be super rad, so swing through the Prom and check it out.

A full night of modern/alternative rock will be taking over The State Theatre in Portland this evening as the Sick Puppies return to town for another high-energy rock n’ roll show. Major label hard rockers, 10 Years and local head bangers, Dead Season, join the Australian act for tonight’s show, which gets underway right around 8.

Over at Bull Feeney’s on Fore Street in Portland you can check out the Squid Jiggers as they play some quality folk tunes that pair perfectly with a tall pint of ice-cold beer. The duo will be getting things going right around 8, so swing through and check ‘em out if you’re hanging the Old Port this Wednesday evening.

The avant-folk duo known as Arborea will be holding things down at The Oak & The Ax in Biddeford this Wednesday evening. The pair will be joined by Spanish folk singer Victor Herrero for a night of beautiful tunes in this unique, intimate setting. Tonight’s event gets underway right around 8 o’clock so be certain to check it out if you’re in the area.

Some open mic action will be happening over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland where you can check out local musicians do their thing or even sign up to play some new songs of your own. Each Wednesday evening beginning at 8, local singer-songwriter Dustin Saucier hosts this free and fun event. Tonight’s open mic will be followed by a featured performance from Boston folk songstress Annalise Emerick, so swing through and check it out if you’re looking for something to do this evening.

If you’re up in the Boothbay Harbor area this Wednesday evening, prepare to shake your can all around the dance floor of Mine Oyster as the disco/funk powerhouse known as Motor Booty Affair will be shaking things up starting at 9 o’clock.

Local Pop-rockers Kilcollins will be doing their thing out on the Oasis patio in the Old Port tonight. Starting at 9 you can do all kinds of rockin’ and rollin’ with these cool dudes as they play all of the tunes you know and love as well as some catchy originals that are certain to get your hips shaking. It’s free, fun and I guarantee a good time, so get to it if you’re kickin’ around Wharf Street tonight check it out!

Yo, Hump Day means it’s time to get down at The Big Easy in Portland as another Rap Night will be highlighting some local hip-hop emcees all night long. Every Wednesday the dangerously awesome duo of Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra team up to host their weekly party that features some of the dopest local rappers and DJs around.
