Kris Rodgers & The Dirty Gems release a new record at Empire tonight

All right, mothahuggas, I’m pretty sure you don’t need me to tell you what day it is, but just know that it is time to bust out your finest pair of Party Pants and get down on it this evening! Lots of things to do and see so make some moves and check out some terrific live music this Friday night!

Throw your Friday afternoon into fun mode with some serious good times and good tunes courtesy of local folk-pop act The Dapper Gents as they play a free show at The Brunswick in Old Orchard Beach starting at 4 o’clock.


Local folk artist Chris Ross will be performing a free show at 4Points BBQ & Blues House in Winterport this Friday evening. Enjoy some songs and stories as Chris’ set starts right around 5 o’clock.


Portland pop-rockers, the Pete Kilpatrick Band will be bringing their live act to the patio of the Portland Lobster Company this Friday. Enjoy some fresh air, cold drinks and good tunes with the fellas as they kick things off right around 6 o’clock at tonight’s free, all ages show.


Up in Auburn check out musician Matt Weston as he creates some ambient sounds using percussion and electronics during a solo set at Narals that gets started at 7 o’clock.


Get things started tonight with some acoustic, light rock at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street as local artist Jeff Cusack plays a free set of songs starting at 7.


Get your weekend geared up with some party tunes at Thatcher’s in South Portland where Captain Ray and the Castaways will keep you dancing all night long with some classic rock and roll at tonight’s free show, which gets cranking right around 7:30. 


Alt-rock act Days Of The New bring their reunion tour to Portland tonight with an 18+ show at the Asylum. They’ll be joined by special guests Sygnal To Noise, Carolina Burn, Stone Audio, and Civil Disturbance as things get rocking and rolling right around 8 o’clock.


Maine music veterans and local funk rockers, Rustic Overtones will be performing their 2001 album, Viva Nueva in its entirety tonight at Port City Music Hall in Portland. The album, which features special guest David Bowie as well as unforgettable tracks such as “C’Mon” and “Combustible” became a prominent fixture in the local scene after its release, but has been unavailable for purchase for almost a decade. Tonight the fellas celebrate the record’s digital re-release with a big ol’ 18+ party that gets underway right around 8 o’clock.


Check out some super fun prog and indie rock over at Bayside Bowl in Portland tonight as three stellar bands take to the stage for an all ages free show. Starting at 8 check out the instrumental sci-fi prog opera known as Superorder alongside alt-indie dream pop act, Nice Places and the improvisational prog-rock of Twinrova, which features members of Superorder, Nice Places and Capture the Sun.


Sam Shain and The Scolded Dogs will be bringing the party to Rooster’s in Augusta tonight for a free show that’ll feature their killer mix of original jams as well as classic covers that span many genres and artists such as Snoop Dogg, Johnny Cash, Parliament and more. The good times start rollin’ right around 8.


Treat yourself to some delicious gastro pub fare while taking in some awesome live music over at The Frog & Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook this Friday as Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies take to the stage for a free show filled with their own theatrical brand of twisted Americana and rockabilly tunes. The party gets underway at 8 o’clock.


One man band Justin “Stovepipe” Stover will be stopping by the movie mecca known as Videoport in downtown Portland as part of his Michigan to Maine Tour this Friday evening. Come by to pick up a movie and enjoy some free live music as things get started at 8.


Alter Igor will be rocking out at the Hollywood Casino in Bangor this Friday night with their party mix of classic tunes. These fellas will be playing everything from Nick Lowe to The Who as things get cranking right around 8 o’clock tonight.


Get up to Acton as American Ride busts out a ton of modern country covers at Willy’s Ale Room tonight. The boot scootin’, toe tappin’ and yeehawin’ starts up at 8 o’clock.


Miss Viva & Her Reinforcements bring you an evening full of class and nostalgia as the group performs some classic jazz standards. Featuring local musicians such as Matt Day, Kyle Friday, Rafael Keilt Freyre, James Finison, Rexy T. Dinosaur and a special performance by guest singer Eliza Thomas. Tonight’s swanky event gets underway at the Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in Portland right around 8.


Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland hosts another installment of their monthly Foundation Friday event tonight. Each and every second Friday of the month you can join Mr. Dereloid and special guests for a free dance party featuring the finest underground dance jams around. For this month’s edition, special guest Kid Ray and The Psychologist will be teaming up with resident DJ Mr. Dereloid for a funky fresh night of dance tunes that gets shakin’ right around 9.


Mine Oyster in Boothbay Harbor is ready to party with dance pop act Tickle this finally Friday. Things get shaking right around 9 at tonight’s free shindig, so get out there and shake your groove thing if you’re in the area tonight!


Check out the talented fellas of local act The Band Apollo as they play a free show at the one and only Easy Street Lounge in Hallowell this finally Friday. Starting at 9, get ready to dance the night away to their sweet alt-pop-rock sounds.


Hollerfolk heroes, The Ghost of Paul Revere will be shipping down to Portsmouth for a show at The Press Room alongside Cambridge folk-rockers the Ballroom Thieves as tonight’s boot-stomping good time gets underway at 9 o’clock.


Local piano-driven rock n’ roller Kris Rodgers and his band The Dirty Gems will be dropping their latest release titled Headlines at Empire in Portland tonight. Kris, also known by many as Fingers, proves that he’s far more than just the keyboardist for such awesome acts as Kurt Baker Band and The Connection, by showcasing his ability to write some extremely catchy songs that he sings the hell out of on this brand new record. Brooklyn-based act Kalen & The Sky Thieves will also be on deck as they perform songs from their new album, Bluebird, and local singer-songwriter Scott Girouard will get the party started with an opening set starting right around 9:30pm.


Check out some old school rock and roll as Gunhouse Hill tears up the stage of Twin Spruces in Lubec this Friday. Tonight’s free shindig gets shaking at 9:30.


Original avant-folk duo Arborea will be up to the Lompoc Cafe in Bar Harbor for a show this Friday evening. The pair are set to perform at 10 o’clock.


The Acadian Aces will be back on the stage of Blue in Portland tonight as they serve up some authentic Cajun tunes during a free show that gets shaking right around 10.
