Give thanks for funk with Model Airplane at Port City Music Hall tonight

Aww yeah! Wishing you all a wonderful Turkey Day Eve as we all get ready to succumb to tomorrow’s inevitable food coma. Lots and lots to be thankful for this evening as a ton of awesome shows are happening all around town and beyond. So hike up those festive Party Pants and get down on it this evening!

Hot Topic and The State Theatre present a full night of alt-rockage as they welcome Black Veil Brides, Falling in Reverse, Set it Off and Drama Club to the stage for this Wednesday’s all ages show. Expect everything from screamo, pop-rock, alternative and even a bit of electronic sounds as things get underway right around 7 o’clock tonight.


Check out a special midweek acoustic performance from local singer-songwriters and musicians Lisa Redfern and Zach Ovington as they play a show at Gather in Yarmouth this Wednesday evening. The duo will be serving up some blues, country, jazz and folk tunes starting right around 6:30pm.


The Tim Sullivan Trio will be holding it down at The Liberal Cup in Hallowell this evening. Tim is one talented dude who knows how to make people feel fine through playing a bunch of tunes that are sure to get you moving this Turkey Day eve, so if you’re in the area swing on by starting at 7 o’clock.


Maine singer-songwriter, guitarist and all around nice guy Dave Jacquet will be resuming his role as host with the most for this week’s free open mic event at Cole Farms in Gray. Starting at 7:30 Dave welcomes any and all musicians to join in on the fun as he and a few of his friends perform throughout the evening.


The one, the only, Model Airplane returns to the stage of Port City Music Hall in Portland to give thanks for friends, family, fun, and funk with one epic party! The fellas will be joined by a plethora of musical guests, so swing through, bust a move and get down on it this  evening as things get shaking right around 8pm.


Native Isles, which features a veritable who’s who of local talent, will return to Frontier in Brunswick tonight as part of the venue’s Live in the Lounge music series. With Emma Stanley on vocals and trumpet/flugelhorn, Tyler Stanley on keys and vocals, Pete Morse on guitar and vocals, and Andy Robbins on drums, tonight’s free 8 o’clock show is guaranteed to be an awesome time. Make your midweek party happen by checking Native Isles out if you’re in the area this evening.

The Ladies in Red Wednesday night music series rolls on tonight at MJ’s Wine Bar as vocalist Susanne Gerry is joined by Colin Winsor on upright bass and Kris Rodgers on keys for an evening of lounge-style tunes. Settle in and enjoy a variety of jazz, soul, pop and R&B tunes as things get underway at tonight’s free shindig right around 8 o’clock.


Get in down home, acoustic roots tunes this Wednesday with David Beam and the Custom House Gang at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland. This lively bunch will be playing some great music for your midweek wind down so swing through and enjoy as things get started at 8 o’clock.


Bull Feeney’s on Fore Street welcomes back the Squid Jiggers this Wednesday as the pair plays their own brand of folk-infused drinking tunes starting at 8 o’clock. There’s never, ever a cover charge and also never, ever a shortage of cold beverages, so make some moves and check these fellas out this evening.


The Run of the Mill in Saco will be getting funky this Wednesday evening with some Chicago-style blues courtesy of Mike James’ Blue Lions. Tonight’s free event starts at 8 o’clock, so be sure to stop by and enjoy a beverage and some good tunes if you’re hanging south of Portland.


Some more open mic action happens at the Frog and Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook tonight as local rockabilly musician, Pete Witham hosts another free and fun open mic event. Beginning at 8 you can sign up to play some tunes or just enjoy some performances from Pete and his pals all evening long.


Gorilla Finger Dub Band will be pumping out the roots, reggae, and dub-step jams at Brian Boru in the Old Port. These dudes take to the stage at 9 for a free party filled with all things reggae and dub.


Get down on it with some explosive, high-energy funk, jazz, soul and R&B at the Press Room in Portsmouth as Portland’s own Nigel Hall bring his five-piece act, The Nth Power the stage for a night of serious soulful fun. Things get bumping right around 9pm.


It’s been one whole year that Rap Night Portland has been blowing up your Wednesday nights with some superb live, local hip-hop at The Asylum in Portland. Tonight they celebrate their one year anniversary at the venue with performances from Rapper Ashley, Indigenous Immigrants, Dynamo-P & Micodin and many more. Don’t miss out on early and late night open mic cyphers with hosts Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra as tonight’s party gets jumping right around 9 o’clock.


Roots, Rhythm & Dub will be at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port tonight for some high-energy reggae and dub that is certain to super charge your Wednesday. This free show starts right around 9:30.


Rock your way into the holiday with a solid shot of some 80s RnR as several local musicians join forces to pay tribute to two iconic bands during this week’s Clash of the Titans upstairs at the Empire in Portland. Starting at 9:30 see if British bad boys Def Leppard are Foolin’ or if they can out rock the badasses of Guns n’ Roses as tonight’s monumental match up Welcomes you to The Jungle of high voltage rock and roll.


If you’re up in Waterville tonight check out the musical antics of local 4-piece act Smoked Salmon as they bring their eclectic range of sounds to the stage of Mainely Brews. Anticipate lots of tunes in the vein of Phish, The Dead, The Band, Dylan, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bowie and more as things get underway right round 10pm.
