Get funky at Model Airplane's Winter Soulstice Shakedown at Port City Music Hall

Oh man, having a few days off from my big girl job really makes it very easy for me to lose all track of time and responsibility! Needless to say I’m having a blast and am ready to dive into a weekend chock full of good times, good tunes, and good people! Here are some spots to check out this fine Friday evening!

If you’re up in the Hallowell area this evening, check out a free show at Hoxter’s featuring The Veayo Twins who’ll be rockin’ the night away starting right around 7 o’clock.

Up at Pomodoros Bistro in Turner, five-piece funk, rock and blues band Skosh will be throwing a pre-New Year’s party. Things go live and loud starting right around 8.

Model Airplane’s Winter Soulstice Shakedown at Port City Music Hall on Congress Street in Portland happens tonight. Starting at 8 warm up with a band who truly puts the fun in funk. With tons of great tunes and special guests such as Kenya Hall, Loretta Allen of The Other Bones, Adam Waxman, Anna Lombard, MC 22, Phil Divinsky and more you really can’t go wrong with tonight’s eager, so shine up those dancing shoes, haul out your best Party Pants and get ready to work it on out!

Upstairs at the Empire on Congress Street in Portland you can check out The Penthouse Dance Party featuring the very best underground house, techno and dance music courtesy of DJs Ed Garrison, Marcus Caine, Christopher Gauthier, and Ian Hammond. Tonight’s event is absolutely free, features special guest Mr. Dereloid and gets crankin’ right around 9 o’clock.

If you’re looking for some free Friday night fun, make your way over to Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland where four unique local acts will be performing with absolutely no cover charge. Beginning at 9 you can take in tunes from Caro Khan, Tall Horse, Geoff Zimmerman and Eli Noll.

Turn it up at a special edition (T)RVP Night at Flask Lounge in Portland this Friday. The party starts at 9 o’clock with sets from DJ M0M, Don Damiani and kttn mttnz.

Brian Boru in Portland will be featuring local pop-Americana act The Jason Spooner Band this evening.  Check out a free show from these awesome roots-rockers starting at 9:30.

Put a little glide in your stride this Friday over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port where funk band Mama’s Boomshack will be funking things up with a free show upstairs right around 9:30.

It might be pretty chilly out there, but Royal Hammer is ready to celebrate warm, sunny days with some raging reggae at Mainely Brews in Waterville tonight. Starting at 9:30 the Hammer will be making some smooth reggae sounds as they full throttle into a Friday night throw down.
