A portion of all proceeds will go to benefit the Maine Island Trail Association.
Following the death of GWAR frontman Dave Brockie in March, a ton of talented locals have put together one helluva tribute show down at Geno’s in Portland this Friday. Check out Lord Earth, Thee Icepicks, Psycho and Travis Curran as they pay homage to this well-known metal act. There will also be a film screening of Phallus in Wonderland and if you show up in costume, you’ll receive $2 off the price of admission. Tonight’s tribute gets underway at 6.
A super fun night in support of a great cause is happening up in Bangor this Friday at Eastern Maine Community College where one and all are invited to rock out for Relay for Life with live music, camping, a barbecue, volleyball, games and more. This all ages event gets started at 6 o’clock and will feature performances from Random Zero, Bizzy Gruntry, SirEEL, Fools Rule, Lampstand, Cosmic Karma Pharmers and DJ Rn’D. Admission is $10 with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society.
If you’re getting your Friday on south of Portland tonight then why not check out some high-energy rockabilly courtesy of Ragged Jack? This rockin’ act will be performing live at the Sanford Wolves Club starting at 8 o’clock.
Award winning folk singer-songwriter Paddy Mills will be performing live at Frontier in Brunswick beginning at 8 o’clock this Friday evening. Paddy’s songs are as salty as the Maine coast he calls home, so be sure to stop in if you’re in the area tonight.
The Trubadors, led by Bob Murray and featuring Portland musicians Jim Goss and Getty Payson, as well as Vermonter Jeremiah McLane, have chosen Mayo Street Arts in Portland for their Maine musical debut this Friday. Starting at 8 check out original, folk-based music with shades of blues and jazz.
Down in Saco Gorilla Finger Dub Band will be pumping out the live roots, reggae, and dub-step jams at The Kerrymen Pub. The act takes to the stage at 8 to provide some extremely danceable party music for anyone who loves and appreciates all things reggae and dub.
Even further south tonight is a humungous rock shows happening down at Milly’s Tavern in Manchester, New Hampshire. Get ready to throw up a pair of horns and have your face melted off as Mindset X, A Simple Complex and Portland’s own Pigboat take to the stage for some heavy duty rocking and rolling right around 8 o’clock.
Join Okbari Middle Eastern Ensemble for an evening of music from the Middle East and Turkey at Blue on Congress Street in Portland this evening. Okbari Middle Eastern Ensemble performs on oud (fretless Middle Eastern lute), qanun (72-stringed Middle Eastern micro-tonal zither), nay (ancient Middle Eastern reed flute), vocals and Middle Eastern percussion. Tonight’s free show will also feature special guest and Armenian clarinet legend Mal Barsamian, so be sure to stop through on your way downtown tonight beginning at 8 o’clock.
If you’re looking to tickle your funny bone this Friday, then go ahead and bust a gut starting at 8 with some of Portland’s most comical people at Local Laughs at The Asylum in Portland. Tonight laugh until it hurts at this free show featuring stand up performances from Krister Rollins, Joe Timmins, Erin Cyr, James Spizuoco and featured comic Tim Hofmann.

Pedro O’Hara’s in Lewiston will be celebrating the upcoming Cinco de Mayo with a massive party all weekend long that kicks off with a free and fun performance from local singer-songwriter Chad Porter. Chad will be singing songs and telling stories as things get underway right around 8:30.
Avant-garde bassist, Nat Baldwin, who is known for his work in the Dirty Projectors as well as being a contributor to albums by Vampire Weekend, Grizzly Bear and more returns to Maine tonight for a live performance on stage at SPACE Gallery on Congress Street. Tonight’s 18+ show kicks off at 8 o’clock with some post-rock folk sounds for local act Butcher Boy.
New England Music Award winner Sarah Blacker will be down in Portsmouth at the Portsmouth Book and Bar for a show alongside Portland’s own Connor Garvey. Anticipate a full evening of soulful, stirring vocals paired with some acoustic folk and Americana as things get underway at 9 o’clock.
It’s Friday night so you better be busting a move down to Flask Lounge in Portland where DJ Jamie O’Sullivan will be hosting his monthly LOVE dance party event. LOVE features O’Sullivan and special guest Kid Ray bringing you some of the best house, techno and disco music around for you to properly shake your can to. If you’re up in Hallowell this evening check out the dead ahead, high-energy, 4-piece, dance-your-butt-off rock and roll band known as The Worthy Bones. These dudes are ready to get you grooving with an energetic set that gets underway right around 9 over at the Kennebec Wharf.

Burlington’s Dead Sessions are prepared to bring Port City Music Hall in Portland to new places with their magical jams derived straight from Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead.
