It’s Monday and I’ve already got Friday on my mind. Yikes. Thankfully tonight has plenty of fun things to do to help you blow those Monday blues away, so suck it up and get out there this evening!

What better reward for making it through the motions of another Monday than with some delicious pizza and tasty jams? Get double doses of both over at Slab on Preble Street in Portland as local DJs Mosart212 and El Shupacabra team up to spin some of the best old school hip-hop, soul, jazz, Motown, and R&B during tonight’s free party, which gets shaking right around 7 o’clock.
Local singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Geoff Zimmerman will be celebrating the release of his new record, K Bye/Fake Smile, with a special show at Blue on Congress Street in Portland this evening. Geoff finds inspiration in all spaces and time as he craftily blends together a unique mix of urban-folk and indie-rock. Also performing during this all-ages release party event will be local artists Monique Barrett and Chico Barulho. Things get underway right around 7pm.
Local folk-rocker, Brian Patricks will be playing a handful of original tunes and classic covers at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland tonight. This free show starts right around 7 o’clock, so stop on by if you’re in the Old Port this evening.
More open mic action will be happening at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco tonight where beginning at 7:30 solo artists and full bands are encouraged to take to the stage and show off their musical capabilities at this free and fun event.
Hallowell blues man Jimmy Midnight will be backed by a full band featuring local artists Robby Coffin, Alfred Lund, Dave Thibodeau, Peter Johnson, and Angela Plato Pitteroff for an evening of songs and stories at Slates Restaurant this Monday evening. Jimmy’s newest album, Jimmy Midnight’s Stimulus Package, as well as some more classic records will be available for purchase as tonight’s show gets underway right around 8 o’clock.
Give yourself a big ol’ pat on the back from surviving another Monday and then make your way to Otto’s lower Congress Street location to properly celebrate with some bustling bluegrass and delicious pizza as local musician Joe Walsh joins a few friends for a Monday chock full of free fun. Things get jumping this Monday evening right around 8pm.
