I feel like I came outta hibernation this weekend and with that bright, glowing thing in the sky making an appearance, things are definitely on the up and up. However, it is Monday, but I shall not allow that to put a damper on this positive thing I’ve got going on right now, so it’s time to venture out on a school night and do it to it this evening to prevent Monday from becoming mundane. Let’s do this thing!
Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland offers up some acoustic, old school Louisiana blues courtesy of the the fellas in Poor Howard. This free show starts at 6:30 so stop on by and check it out.
Local laugh master, Connor McGrath begins his Monday night stint at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland with his new series entitled Sgt. Connor’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’s Singles Night. Connor promises to entertain all those lonely hearts, lovebirds, and random service industry folks who want to have fun on their night off with some comedy and music. This week will include tunes courtesy of DJ Kurt Baker. It’s free and guaranteed to be entertaining to swing on by starting at 8 o’clock tonight.
More in the way of free fun to check out this Monday evening is taking place downstairs at Empire Dine and Dance on Congress Street in Portland where North of Nashville play their regular Monday night gig. Starting right around 8 the local duo will be serving up catchy originals as well as toe-tapping, honky tonk covers, these. Again, it’s free, fun and absolutely certain to make your Monday a lot less mundane, so check it out!
If you’re up in Hallowell this evening be sure to take in tonight’s fantastic show at Slates Restaurant where the Sandy River Ramblers will be delivering up their exciting blend of bluegrass, Americana, country, folk, and a bit of comedy. These Mainers are truly proud of their state and even released an album in September called Cry Of The Loon, which features original songs all about Maine. Check ‘em out starting at 8 o’clock this evening.
Free Music Mondays continue down at Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland where Newcastle will be making some noise alongside Twins of Aries. A full evening of electro, rock, hip hop and more gets underway, for free, right around 9 tonight.
And of course Mondays mean it’s time to get down to The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland for another installment of The Players Ball. Tonight you can get funky and jam out with The Players Ball’s house band, which features some super talented musicians such as Adam Frederick, Max Cantlin, Dan Boyden, Chas Lester and more. Each and every Monday night these cool cats get together to play tunes not only with each another, but also with anyone who shows up with an instrument to play. It’s a great time for musicians and music lovers alike, so check it out starting right around 9 o’clock.
