Free, all ages Friday night rock show at Bayside Bowl with The Box Tiger, Dollys and Dana Massive

Sweet fluffy, baby bunnies! It is finally Friday! Yes, I know that I make the same exclamation each and every week, but seriously, it just feels so exceptionally awesome to once again make it to the freakin’ weekend. I don’t care if it’s 9 degrees out, I am going to bust out some Friday worthy Party Pants and get after it tonight. Let the Fridaying begin!

There’s a ton of stuff happening early in the evening tonight starting with a fun event over at Thatcher’s in South Portland.  Beginning at 7 o’clock Portland’s own The Substitutes will be bringing you the best in old school pop and rock with everything from The Beatles to The Who to The Monkees and more, even better this evening’s early show is absolutely free.  So if you’re looking to wind down your workweek with some good ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll, swing on by and check ’em out.

The Oak and The Ax in Biddeford presents a free Friday opening and performance from visual and musical artist id m theft able. Tonight’s event gets underway right around 7 o’clock and will also feature entertainment from Shea Mowat, Mystic Out-Bop Review, and Video Nasties.

It’s not very often that there is a free and also all ages show happening on a Friday night so take advantage this evening and check out the show going on down at Bayside Bowl in Portland featuring the high-energy, unique and always entertaining rock n’ roll of The Box Tiger, Dollys, and Dana Massive. This absolutely free shindig gets underway right around 8 o’clock.

Port City Music Hall welcomes six-piece Americana rock act Delta Rae to Portland this Friday. The band, which is fronted by two female vocalists, has sold out numerous venues from coast to coast and has even opened up for Lyle Lovett. Sydney duo, The Falls, will open things up with a set of songs starting at 8 o’clock.

Shanna Underwood will be bringing some fine Americana music to the stage of Elements: Books Coffee Beer in Biddeford this evening. Starting at 8 Underwood joins forces with Devon Colella on cello for some mighty fine musical sounds.

One Longfellow Square welcomes Professor Louie & The Crowmatix to the stage for a Friday night full of good times and good tunes. Starting at 8, enjoy a night of rompin’ stompin’ roots rock, sweet ballads and roadhouse blues with these Blues Hall of Fame members.

If you’re doing it to it in the Southern Maine area this Friday get ready for some rollicking rockabilly courtesy of Ragged Jack. Ragged Jack will be swinging the night away at the Sanford Amvets Post starting at 8.

Local Americana rockers, The ToneKings, who mix some roots and soul together for a delightful concoction of tunes, will be bringing the Friday funkiness to The Frog and Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook. Starting at 8:30 get ready to enjoy some great food, drinks, folks, and music!

Gingko Blue on Fore Street in Portland has all the soulful blues you’ll need to get your weekend started as they welcome Poke Chop & The Other White Meats to the stage for a night of music, which gets underway at 9 o’clock.

If you’re kickin in Gray tonight, swing by the Tailgate Bar & Grille starting right around 9 where Doctor Fatfinger will be busting out some great cover tunes for you to shake your groove thing to all night long.

Geno’s on Congress Street in Portland will be rocking all evening long with some high-energy alternative rock courtesy of Kamikaze Angel, Civil Disturbance and Brand New Day. The party starts at 9 o’clock. 

A great triple bill of rock, roots and Americana will be taking over Fury’s Publick House in Dover, New Hampshire this Friday. Starting at 9 o’clock you can check out sets of songs from Bluebirds, Watts, Nate Laban, and Eric Ott.

If you’re looking to get down to some good tunes tonight get up to Sea Dog Brewing Company in Topsham where Doubting Gravity will be getting the party started right around 9 o’clock. Andi Fawcett and the fellas will be bringing you the best original pop rock tunes around, so grab a beer and shake your can this evening.

Portland’s Dead Language Collective presents an evening that’ll feature performances from local metal acts such as Gravel, Stone Tools, and Vicious Images with DJ RoyBoy holding it down on set break music duty. This is a free show down at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge in Portland, so check it out as things get cranking right around 9 this evening.

Upstairs at the Empire on Congress Street in Portland you can check out The Penthouse Dance Party featuring the very best underground house, techno and dance music courtesy of DJs Ed Garrison, Marcus Caine, Christopher Gauthier, and Ian Hammond. Tonight’s event is absolutely free and gets crankin’ right around 9 o’clock.

One of my favorite mid-coast prig-rock bands, The 220s, returns to Portland this Friday with a show at The Big Easy on Market Street. Check out this trio of insanely talented dudes as they get the party started at 9:30 tonight.

 

Boston roots-rockers the Adam Ezra Group returns to Mainely Brews in Waterville for a happening show that gets underway right around 9:30. Be sure to swing by and have some fun if you’re up that way this evening!

Put a little dip in your hip with funk band Mama’s Boomshack upstairs at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port this Friday. These masters of fun and funk will get the party hoppin’ right around 9:30.

Maine folk musician Max Garcia Conover will be hosting a free musical shingdig at the Lion’s Pride in Brunswick this Friday. Starting at 9:30 Max and a group of his pals will be playing some acoustic songs to see you into the start of another great weekend.

Some very talented cats in the form of LQH (Chas Lester, Tyler Quist, and Evan Haines) will be bringing their melting pot of sound that touches on everything from soul to jazz to funk to rock over to Blue on Congress Street as they start playing at 10.
