Fleetwood Mac takes on Jackson Browne for this week's Clash at the Empire

YEAHHH! That’s me addressing the fact that we’re half way through the working week and inching every bit closer to the weekend, my babies! Let’s check out what Wednesday has whipped up for us, shall we?

Lorraine Bohland and Terry Foster team up tonight to bring some jazz, blues and R&B classics to your Wednesday. Check out this talented duo as they provide the soundtrack to your midweek wind-down starting right around 7 o’clock at Gingko Blue in the Old Port. 

The Songwriters in the Round showcase returns to Frontier in Brunswick tonight with music from some of Maine’s most prolific musicians. Beginning at 7, Lisa Redfern brings some talented local singer-songwriters together on stage for an intimate, unplugged performance of compelling songs and stories. Tonight’s line up features the likes of Sara Hallie Richardson, Connor Garvey, and Tim Rice.

Acoustic duo, Uke n’ Smile will be hosting an open mic night at the Frog & Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook this evening. Beginning at 8, all musicians of all musical talents are welcome to play some tunes during tonight’s event. This open mic is free and definitely a lot of fun, so be sure to stop on by if you’re hanging in the area this evening. 

The Little Tap House in Portland’s acoustic music series continues this evening with some tunes courtesy of Emma and Tyler Stanley. Check this talented duo out as they perform at this free event starting right around 8 o’clock. 

Check out some open mic action in Portland this Wednesday evening at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street where local musicians will be gathering to play tunes acoustically. If you are a performer yourself you can also sign up to play a song or two. Each and every Wednesday right around 8 singer-songwriter Nick Poulin hosts this free open mic night.

Warm up this Wednesday at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port where local duo the Squid Jiggers will be playing their own brand of folk-infused drinking tunes. The fellas get the good times rollin’ right around 8 o’clock at this free and fun show, so if you’re hanging downtown be sure to check ‘em out! 

Burlington jam band, Revibe makes a stop in Portland at Flask Lounge on Spring Street tonight to help you work it out this Wednesday. Revibe combines a wide range of musical influences and genres including jam, funk, psychedelic rock and electronica to create tight grooves that are bound to keep you moving. Get down to Flask early to check out Dek-Dek as he spins some stuff as things get underway at 9 o’clock. 

Head over to The Asylum in Portland for another edition of Rap Night this evening where a talented crew will be holding it down and showcasing some of local hip-hop’s best emcees and DJs such as eyenine, Ill By Instinct, and El Shupacabra all night long. Every Wednesday Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra join forces to host their weekly party that features the best of the best as well as early and late night open mic cyphers. Get ready to get down as things get jumping right around 9 tonight. 

 

Find out if Jackson Browne is truly Running On Empty or if can he break The Chain of Fleetwood Mac as this week’s Clash of the Titans at the Empire in Portland pits two classic 70s acts against one another to find out who’ll come out on top. A plethora of Portland musicians will take to the stage to pay tribe to both Browne and The Mac as things get started right around 9:30 this Wednesday evening.
