Local musician Nick Poulin will be playing host with the most this Tuesday evening for another installment of The Exchange, a free, all ages open mic event held at The Thirsty Pig in the Old Port. The Exchange is open to any and all musicians who are looking to showcase, workshop and even collaborate on their own original material in front of an audience of fellow musicians and music lovers. All genres, ages and musical abilities are welcome to join in the fun as this shindig starts up around 7 out on the Pig’s patio deck.

Beginning at 8 o’clock check out a full evening of songs and stories as talented local artists such as Trent Gay, Liz Taillon, Mieka Pauley, Dominic Lavoie, Cam Jones and more take to the stage to play their own original material.
Renowned blues rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Jonny Lang will perform at The State Theatre in Portland this evening. Lang’s music is notable for both his unusual voice and inimitable guitar solos. Black Crowes founding member and lead guitarist Rich Robinson will open tonight’s show, which gets underway right around 8 o’clock.
SPACE Gallery on Congress Street in Portland gets dark and heavy as Maine black metal act, Falls of Rauros, kicks off their August tour with a show tonight. They’ll be joined by the doom-colored folk of Butcher Boy, the self-described ‘black stench’ of New Hampshire, Ramlord, and the heavy atmosphere of Feral, a new project featuring members of Falls of Rauros, Zud, Shabti and Gift of Tongues. Prepare your skull for inevitable crushing as things get underway at 8:30 tonight.
