Eric Bettencourt returns to Portland with a show tonight at St. Lawrence Arts Center

All right, mothahuggas, I’m pretty sure you don’t need me to tell you what day it is, but just know that it is time to bust out your fanciest Party Pants and get on down this evening.  Personally I will be pre-gaming in Lewiston this evening, playing on a flat bed truck with a classic rock cover band to raise some funds for those affected by the fires, but when I return I’m going to be shaking it all over town. Why? Why not! There’s a plethora of badass things to check out, so join me in doing it to it this fine Friday evening. Here we go!

I bet it’s been quite some time since you’ve seen Eric Bettencourt around town singing his ass off and pick some guitar strings like it ain’t nobody’s business as the talented singer-songwriter spent the winter in Austin. Well, tonight he makes his triumphant return to the Portland scene with a boat load of new tunes and even a slight tan (lucky son of a gun) and is ready to show both off with an intimate performance at the one and only St. Lawrence Arts Center. Starting things off in a truly epic manner will be psych-rocker Jeff Beam, who’ll get things going right around 7 o’clock this evening.

If you’re hanging around the house this evening you can still check out some local tunes right from the comfort of your own couch as WMPG show, Local Motives welcomes KGFREEZE live on air for a performance that’ll get underway right around 7:30pm. Tune in and get ready to hear some danceable rockers that’ll have you busting a move around your own living room.

Lyle Divinsky will also be settling back in to town for the summer after spending most of the year in Brooklyn honing his soulful singing skills and tonight he’s celebrating his return to home with a show of epic proportions down at The Big Easy in Portland. Lyle promises to bring the soulful, funky grooves that’ll be sure to keep you busting a move all night long. The Nat Osborne Osborn Band and special guests Alice and the Glass Lake will also be on hand to keep the night bounding along at a terrifically fantastic Friday night pace. Check ‘em out starting at 8 o’clock.

The fellas in Mellow Endeavor continue to celebrate the release of their album, All Paths Lead Home with a release party up in Bangor at the Nocturnem Draft Haus. Check out these guys as they bring the acoustic tunes, positive vibes and crunchy jams to the stage starting right around 8.

If you’re up in the Thomaston area this Friday evening and looking to check out some fine roots rock blended in with some folk and Americana goodness, then might I suggest checking out Poor Old Shine at Billy’s Tavern. The fellas will be kicking out the jams beginning at 8 o’clock.

Anna & The Diggs, who just slayed The Big Easy this past Tuesday with their tremendously successful cover of Bonnie Raitt’s Nick of Time, take their bluesy, soulful pop/rock act down to Newmarket, NH to The Stone Church for a show with acoustic folk/rocker and stand-out vocalist, Sarah Blacker and special guest, Boston Music Award winner, Will Dailey. The party starts at 8pm.

High-grade reggae fusion will be cruising down to Portsmouth, NH tonight as Roots, Rhythm & Dub play The Blue Mermaid. Starting at 9 these fellas will be taking the stage to make you dance, so check it out if you’re hanging around the area this evening.

It’s getting to be about that time where you’re gonna wanna be out on a deck some where, sipping a cold beer, and listening to some tunes. Why not get into that mindset by checking out some live hip-hop at The Pier Patio Pub in Old Orchard with JB5? The fellas will be bringing the Friday night thunder to the pier starting at 9 o’clock.

Brian Boru in the Old Port will be doing it to it this evening with local pop-Americana rockers the Jason Spooner Trio tonight. You can check out these roots-rockers and their free night of fun times beginning at 9:30.

If you’re looking to get down to a little Drum & Bass action this evening then mosey on down to Flask Lounge in Portland where The Digital Mercenaries will be delivering sounds that are sure to make you shake your hips all night long.  Tonight’s event starts at 9 o’clock and is absolutely free of charge, so check it out.

Over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland, soulful Americana meets R&B with a little bit of alternative country as well as boat load of blues as Kwesi Kankam, Samuel James and Isaiah Bennett take to the stage for a night of songs. Tonight’s show is pretty dang cheap with only a $3 cover at the door and will get underway right around 9pm. tonight.

If you’re kicking it in Bangor this evening and looking to check out some fresh hip-hop, then make your way down to Tantrum Nightclub and Lounge where Termanology will be releasing his latest mix tap Hood Politics alongside G-Fresh and one of my new favorite acts, Ock Cousteau. The party pops off at 9 o’clock.

Local pop rockin’ ass kickers, Kilcollins will be killin’ it down in the Old Port this evening with a free show at Bull Feeney’s. The straight up rockin’, rollin’, dancin’ and partyin’ commences right around 9:30, so check ‘er out.

Some super duper country tunes will be twanging away tonight at Mainely Brews in Waterville as The Cowboy Angels saddle up to play you the best classic country covers all night long. Crooning, toe tapping, and twang starts at 9:30.
