Oh my dear, beloved, Friday. I truly want to kiss you on the mouth and buy you a fancy drink. This week has totally crushed my soul and I am so ready to let loose and party down. So let’s bust out those weekend party pants and get to it, shall we?
If you are lucky enough to start your weekend a day early, here’s a couple of things, one, I’m extremely envious of you at this exact moment and two, you should probably make some plans to take in some free, live music on the patio of The Brunswick in Old Orchard Beach with the fellas of Kilcollins. These talented dudes will be teaming up to form a trio right around 1 o’clock this afternoon as they play some of their own pop-rock originals as well as some super danceable cover jams. There’s never a cover charge, so make some plans to party in the OOB this Friday afternoon!
A little later this afternoon you can enjoy your finally Friday with some Happy Hour tunes courtesy of local roots rocker Travis James Humphrey over at Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in Portland. Starting at 5 o’clock Travis will be plucking some strings and singing some things to get your weekend started off on the right note.
Townsquare Media of Bangor and The Maine Edge have teamed up to bring a raging party to downtown Bangor this Friday evening as they welcome two of Maine’s top reggae bands to the stage of Tantrum for a night full of good vibes and good tunes. Celebrate the summer with Royal Hammer and Catchavibe as both acts will be joined by special guest throughout the evening. This event is guaranteed to be one helluva party with free admission until 8pm and a BBQ to boot, so check it out if you’re hanging in Central Maine this evening.
Get your face melted off tonight at Club Texas in Auburn as a Maine metal takeover starts right around 6 o’clock with Beyond The Fall, Mongrel, Centerlink, A Simple Complex and Kamikaze Angel. The Justin Sane radio show will also be broadcasting live with awesome door prizes and giveaways all evening long, so if you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and check things out.

Slab on Preble Street in Portland welcomes Tigerman WOAH! to the patio to liven things up this Friday with their gritty, punk-tinged rootsy bluegrass. Tonight’s free show is certain to be a helluva lot of fun, so be sure to swing through as things get pumping right around 7.
If you find yourself south of Portland tonight and in dire need of some high-energy rock n’ roll then make your way down to Champions in Biddeford where Seacoast rock act Red Sky Mary will be blasting off right around 7 o’clock at tonight’s free show.

If for some reason you’ve never seen the talent-laden, 19-piece big band known as The Fogcutters, please make some plans to get yourself down to Port City Music Hall on Congress Street this evening to witness this must-see, live show that packs a super punch with horns, a rockin’ rhythm section, crazy good vocalists and so much more. This veritable who’s who of incredibly talented musicians will be taking to the stage right around 8 o’clock to perform original material in the style of big bands of days gone by. Not only that, but special guest and beloved local folk artist Jacob Augustine will also be performing this evening during a solo set as well as with The Fogcutters.
