Darien Brahms plays a free show on the Western Prom

It’s another gorgeous, summer day here in our lovely, seaside state so make the most of it!  Here are the haps for this Hump Day!

Beat the heat and get your buns down to Portland Lobster Company to check out local singer-songwriter Eric Bettencourt as he teams up with Seth Kearns and Adam Frederick for some tunes out on the deck this evening. The fellas start making some noise right around 6 o’clock tonight.

Another great way to kick things into gear this evening is happening out on the El Rayo patio in Portland where classic Cuban music makers Primo Cubano get ready to play their weekly gig outside in the sunshine starting right around 7 o’clock.

Gingko Blue on Fore Street in Portland invites one and all to come on in this Wednesday evening for some stellar sounds courtesy of Octane. Octane is a group of individuals brought together by local musician Mike James Hayward to recreate jazz and swing standards through Hayward’s own unique interpretation of the genre. There’s never a cover charge and a ton of tasty drinks to be consumed, so check ‘em out right around 7.

It should be a gorgeous night out on the Western Prom in Portland where local rocker Darien Brahms will be playing a free show this evening. Be sure to grab some pals and make your way over to the Prom near Maine Med for tonight’s event, which gets underway right around 7:15.

All the ladies in the Westbrook area should get ready to swoon super hard tonight as two talented dudes take to the stage of The Frog and Turtle for a night of soulful song styling’s. Starting at 7:30, check out Lyle Divinsky and Joe Farren, as well as cast of surprise special guests, as they team up for a night of good times and good tunes.

Over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port you can check out the Squid Jiggers who are back once again with some quality folk music for your earholes, which is perfectly paired with an ice cold beer this evening. The duo will be getting things going starting right around 8, so swing through and check ‘em out if you’re hanging around downtown tonight.

Wednesday night means it’s time again for some open mic action down to Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland where you can check out local musicians as they do their thing or you can even sign up to play some tunes of your own. Every Wednesday starting right around 8, local singer-songwriter Dustin Saucier hosts this free and fun event.

Rockers Low Cut Connie and The Connection team up to bring you a sweaty, dance your face off rock n’ roll party at The Thirsty Moose Tap House in Portsmouth tonight. The fellas will be cranking out the good tunes and good times beginning at 8 o’clock.

Time to get to it down at The Big Easy in Portland as another Wednesday with Rap Night will be highlighting some local hip-hop emcees all night long. Every Wednesday the dangerously awesome duo known as Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra team up to host their weekly party that features some of the dopest emcees and DJs around. Blast off with the crew beginning at 9 o’clock tonight.

Portland party pop-rockers Kilcollins will be bringing the thunder to the Oasis patio in the Old Port tonight. Starting at 9 you can do all kinds of rockin’ and rollin’ with these cool dudes as they play all of the tunes you know and love as well as some catchy originals that are certain to get your hips shaking. It’s free, fun and I guarantee a good time, so get to it if you’re kickin’ around Wharf Street tonight check it out!

If you’re kicking it in the Naples region this evening check out some live roots, reggae, and dub-step from Gorilla Finger Dub Band over at Bray’s Brew Pub. These fellas come together right around 9:30 to provide some extremely danceable party music for anyone who loves and appreciates all things reggae and dub.
