Corland Richards & friends perform at Empire in Portland tonight

It seems appropriate to preface today’s post with a WOWEEE! Perhaps I sound like a broken record, but there is so much freakin’ cool stuff going on musically tonight that it’s even a bit overwhelming for a gal about town such as myself, but do not fear. I have taken the time to put everything into order for you so that you can properly decide where and when you’ll bust out some epic Party Pants dance moves this evening. Let’s give tonight a good old look-see, yuh? Yuh.

If you’re in South Portland early this Thursday evening, make a pit stop over to CIA Café to take part in Music and Magic Maine’s FUNdraiser to help the organization obtain the perfect vehicle to bring their mission mobile. Music and Magic Maine provides musical instruments to children all across the state. Tonight the hope to raise some money and awareness with a benefit show featuring performances from Kani! (and her dad Dave Gutter of the Rustic Overtones), Kate Beever, Eddy Dyer, Charles Foster Ellingwood and more. The fun begins right around 5 o’clock tonight.

Every 4th Thursday of the month you can catch local blues men Samuel James and Dana Gross as they dish out some songs and stories during this free event that gets started right around 9 o’clock.

Don’t worry, they’re not breaking up, but due to some scheduling conflicts, tonight will mark Hello Newman’s last gig of their Thursday night residency.
