Check out Worried Well & Kris Rodgers & The Dirty Gems at Empire tonight

Here we go, weekend, here we go! We are almost there. I know that this week has felt like an eternity — at least for myself, but no need to fret as the weekend is well within sight. Thursday night has geared itself up with some serious action so let ‘er rip!

If you’re in the Topsham area tonight, get things going with folk-rocker Brian Patricks at The Fairground Cafe. Brian will be playing a handful of original tunes as well as classic cover songs that everyone knows and loves starting at 5 o’clock.

Ring in the holidays with classically-tinged improv ensemble Aeterna Trio as they bring good tidings and good tunes to the Discover Portsmouth Center this evening. Join Andy Happel on violin, Devon Colella on cello and Benjamin Birkbeck on piano for a special evening of music in one of Portsmouth’s most inspiring rooms as this evening’s performance gets underway at 7 o’clock.

Don’t miss an early evening of fun music as Blue welcomes Junco to the stage starting at 7 o’clock. This local act offers up a combination of acoustic rock and oboe that is guaranteed to please, so be sure to stop through this Thursday to check things out.

Lots of stringed things, foot stomping and overall good times will be happening at the Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in portland as they welcome Mountain Emergency to their stage for a night full of bluegrass music. This free event is all ages and gets underway right around 8 o’clock.

Any and all of you Dead Heads who are looking to get your Thursday night noodle on should make some moves down to The State Theatre in Portland as Dark Star Orchestra cranks out classic jams from Jerry and the boys starting at 8 o’clock.

SPACE Gallery on Congress Street welcomes The Dance Cartel for the troupe’s OnTheFloor experience. Driven by pumping bass, glitter and dance theory, this 90-minute, energy-busting event is part dance, part video installation, part DJ set and part concert. For the act’s Portland debut, they’ll be collaborating with one of Portland’s finest, DJ Che Ros. Don’t miss the explosive party at things get shaking right around 8:30.

Kilcollins brings back their lively pop-rock party to the stage of RiRa in the Old Port again this Thursday. These talented dudes get things rocking and rolling with original jams and crafty covers starting at 9pm.

Blue in Portland welcomes local instrumentalist and vocalist, Seth Warner and friends to the stage for a free performance filled with blues, country, folk, re-imagined jazz and songbook standards. Don’t miss out on the fun as things get underway at 9 o’clock.

Bust out some sweet dance moves and your favorite hula hoop and get ready to mellow your mind at Brian Boru in the Old Port with the one and only Band Beyond Description. Far more than just your typical Grateful Dead cover band, these fellas will jam out accordingly on everything from the Allman Brothers, Phish, The Band and much more. Anticipate good times, good tunes, and good peeps starting upstairs at 9.

Starting at 9 you can join local pop-rock act Sparks The Rescue for a special show upstairs at Oasis in the Old Port. These fellas are gearing up to film a video and you can be in it if you just show up tonight! Put on some snazzy Party Pants and join STR as they pump out a plethora or covers and originals during this Thirsty Thursday par-tay.

Work it out tonight at Port City Music Hall in Portland where a whole lotta dancing is sure to be going on with John Brown’s Body and special guests Mighty Mystic and Roots of Creation. The funk, soul, infectious reggae and dub sounds get going right around 9 o’clock.

Maaan, I truly wish I didn’t have to go to bed at dusk tonight because I wanna party with Worried Well and Kris Rodgers & The Dirty Gems at Empire in Portland! KR & The DGs are a rad piano-driven rock and roll band from right here in Portland, Maine and Worried Well is an energetic, local indie rock duo that’s going to be releasing their brand, spanking new single this evening. Since I cannot be there, perhaps you could go in my stead and yell excitedly awkward things while sipping an ice cold vodka soda. Deal? Deal, just show up at 9:30pm and make me proud! Thanks!

Fill your Thursday with some seriously good times with local folk-pop-rock act The Dapper Gents as they play a free show at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port. Beginning at 9:30 the band will be playing some originals as well as some well-known cover tunes for you to shake a feather to.

The Bramhall on Congress Street in Portland invites ya in for another Thirsty Thursday filled with some of the best local bluegrass around with the Jerks of Grass. The Jerks will be providing some toe-tapping tunes during this free shindig starting at 9:30.

Vinyl Tap brings their mix of danceable covers from such notable acts as Huey Lewis, The Beatles, Charlie Daniels, Elton John, The Band and a ton more to Gritty’s in the Old Port tonight. There’s never a cover charge and plenty of beer, so check it out starting at 10 o’clock.
