Check out Ravi Shavi with special guests Whale Oil & Battery Steele at Empire tonight

I bet it comes as absolutely no surprise that I’ve had Friday on my mind since Monday morning so needless to say I’m incredibly happy that we’ve finally made it. Thankfully tonight lives up to the hype so pull up your warmest pair of fleece-lined Party Pants and get ready to do it to it. Let’s (finally) Friday!

Local funk rocker Sam Shain will be going solo and acoustic tonight for a free Happy Hour show at Rooster’s in Augusta this Friday evening. Check out Sam as he plays a bunch of fun covers with a few original jams mixed in as things get started right around 5:30pm.


Local singer-songwriter Chad Porter will be singing some tunes and telling some stories starting at 6 o’clock over at Gilbert’s Chowder House in Windham. This solo acoustic show is all-ages and free of charge so swing through and check it out if you’re in the area this Friday.


Cuppagroove will be bringing some soul and rock n’ roll to The Local Buzz in Cape Elizabeth this Friday evening. Starting at 6:30 unwind with the fellas as they bring you an all-ages, free night of fun.


Check out some great local talent at the Skybox in Westbrook tonight as they present an all acoustic showcase featuring performances from artists like Dark Rain, Brian Estabrook of Break the Skin, Englightened Strangelink, Wayne Smith and more. Things get started at 7 and will end with an open jam right around midnight.

Warm up this evening with the Blasted Knoll String Band as the band plays a free show featuring their fun blend of original, acoustic bluegrass and Americana tunes at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street. This free, all-ages shindig gets shakin’ at 7 o’clock.

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Genevieve Beaudoin will be playing some acoustic originals down at Blue on Congress Street in Portland this Friday evening. Join Genevieve for some songs and stories starting at 8pm.

Lots and lots of stringed things will be plucked, foots will be stomped and fun will be had as Guthries in Lewiston hosts local act Mountain Emergency tonight. Starting at 8, you can check out a full night of bustling bluegrass music at this free, all-ages event.


Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies return once again to the Frog and Turtle in Westbrook with their epically entertaining brand of twisted Americana and rockabilly. These fellas always know how to have a good time, so be sure to check them out, starting at 8, if you’re in the downtown area tonight.


Bayside Bowl will be heating up with some summery sounds as the Raging Brass Reggae Horns perform classic 60’s Jamaican ska, rocksteady and roots reggae instrumentals during this free, all ages party. The fun starts at 8 o’clock.


Skosh, a Central Maine band that blends funk, rock and ska together for a sound that’s definitely a whole lotta fun, will be celebrating the release of their new record alongside rock-reggae act, A Mighty Lion and blues alt-rock and rollers, Zealous Bellus at the Franco Center in Lewiston this Friday. Tonight’s event is guaranteed to be one heck of a party so be sure to check it out as things get swinging right around 8 o’clock.


Viva will be bringing her vibrant vocals back to Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in Portland for a night filled with the Songs of Summer. Warm up with Viva and her talented backing band as they perform new songs, arrangements and choreography focused on helping you forget your winter woes. This free, all-ages event gets heated up at 8 o’clock.


The Dum Bums will be rocking out at the Fire House Grille in Auburn tonight.  Swing through and let this duo of talented dudes entertain you with dance tunes from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today. This free show gets swinging right around 8:30pm.

Central Maine soul, funk and jazz act Boogie Mob will be doing it to it up at Easy Street Lounge in Hallowell this Friday evening. Join in on the free fun as tonight’s 21+ dance party gets shaking at 9 o’clock.

Local pop rock act, The Grumps will be doing their thing up at The Rack at Sugarloaf. If you’re doing a bit of skiing this finally Friday be sure to swing through starting at 9 for some super satisfactory tuneage!


Lots of good times to be had at RiRa in the Old Port tonight as local pop-rockers Kilcollins bring the party to the stage starting at 9 o’clock tonight. There’s never a cover charge and always a heavy dose of danceable tunes for ya, so check it out if you’re Fridaying downtown tonight.

Get the weekend started at 9 o’clock with some party tunes courtesy of rock and rollers Captain Ray and The Castaways as the band plays a free show at Chaps Saloon in Buxton tonight.


If you’re south of Portland tonight you can always fire up your Friday with some great, local indie pop-rock at Fury’s Publick House in Dover, NH as they welcome Portland acts Forget, Forget and GinLab to the stage for a bunch of good tunes and good times starting at 9 o’clock.


Another great way to blow away those winter blues is by checking out tonight’s event at A Space For Grace in Portland as DJ Snooze and Roots, Rhythm & Dub team up for Reggae Night. Starting at 9 all hula hoopers, painters, visual and performance artists as well as lovers of music are welcome to enjoy an evening of everything roots, reggae, and dub.


Captain Obvious here to tell you that it’s the second Friday of the month, which means it’s time for another free dance party at Flask Lounge with Mr. Dereloid. This month’s installment of Foundation Friday will feature some of the finest underground dance music around with special guest DJ Caseroc. Lots of booty shaking, funky goodness for your finally Friday goes down starting at 9 o’clock.


The Blast Addicts kick off a two-night stint at Ramona’s in Bucksport this Friday. Beginning at 9 these cool cats will be gearing up for a non-stop rock and roll dance party that’s guaranteed to get you moving out on the dance floor.


There are two awesome shows to check out tonight over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port. Starting at 9:30 take in some folk-pop-rock gems courtesy of local musician Jacob McCurdy downstairs and/or check out 4-piece cover act Fighting Fiction upstairs. Both shows are free so swing through, warm up and have some fun if your Friday finds you downtown.


Doubting Gravity will be bringing you some of the best original pop-rock around as they play a free show upstairs at Brian Boru in the Old Port. Starting at 9:30 fill up your Friday with some good times, tunes, and people at this ferociously fun (and free) dance party.


Local pop-rockers Tomorrow Morning will be playing up at Mainely Brews in Waterville tonight. This free show gets started at 9:30 and will feature the band’s funky mix of over tunes and original material.


Rhode Island’s Ravi Shavi will be bringing their New Wave, doo-wop-y garage rock sounds to the stage of Empire in Portland tonight. The party gets underway upstairs right around 9:30 and will featuring opening sets from local barn-burning rock and rollers, Whale Oil as well as thunderous trio, Battery Steele.


Musical merrymakers, Acadian Aces are back at Blue on Congress Street in downtown Portland this Friday evening. Starting at 10, these fellas will be serving up some authentic Cajun tunes for you to warm up with.
