Make no ifs, ands, or buts about it, I do not prefer Monday, but thankfully there are a bunch of talented people who have decided that they know how to properly party on a Monday and happily put on awesome events to help you turn that Monday frown upside down.
This Monday evening you’ll find Michael Krapovicky of local rock act The Grumps hosting another free open mic night at Pedro O’Hara’s in Lewiston. Grab an instrument and get ready to play some tunes, or simply kick back and enjoy some music as things get underway around 6:30.
Frank Donovan, of rock-reggae act Brothers Donovan, goes solo tonight with a live acoustic performance down at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland. Frank will be singing some songs that are certain to ease the pain of another Monday, so swing on by and check him out as this free show gets underway right around 7.
MJ’s Wine Bar, at One City Center in Portland, presents another jazz, funk and soul night that is open to all musicians to sit in and play some jams. Bass, drums, guitar and keys are all provided, and the house band, which consists of such talented local artists as Kyle Friday, Jacob Cooley, Tony Palumbo, and James Finison, are always welcome to having other players take to the stage and collaborate on some songs with them. As always, tonight’s event is free, so check it out as things get grooving right around 7.
Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland presents a free night of some great acoustic tunes as Nick Farago and Isaiah Bennett team up for a full evening of music. Starting at 8, take in a performance from Miami’s Nick Farago as he brings his unique material to life on stage alongside Portland native, Isaiah Bennett, who’s guaranteed to please with his own blend of acoustic pop and funk. If you’re hanging around this Monday and looking for something fun to do, be sure to stop by and check these fellas out.
Check out some of the scene’s best bluegrass players and grab a slice of delicious Otto pizza down at their Congress Street location where Joe Walsh and some of his friends will be serving up some tasty tunes for your Monday. Tonight’s event is free and gets started around 8 o’clock.
Palmyra native Jess Tardy returns to Slates in Hallowell tonight to release her first new record in nearly ten years titled “Sky City Lullaby”, which is a collection of country classics and a handful of originals. Tonight’s show gets started right around 8pm.
Don’t forget to make your way over to RiRa in Portland for Evan Walsh’s open mic night. Things get started around 8 and EvGuy even has some instruments available for you to play. If you can’t actually play anything, EvGuy will help you out by performing a version of your song of choice to sing along to. Tonight’s open mic is totally free, so check it out if you’re milling about the downtown area this Monday!
