Make some moves this Tuesday down to The Thirsty Pig in the Old Port for another edition of their weekly open mic event known as The Exchange. Tonight’s gathering is for all musicians looking to collaborate, showcase, and workshop their own original music in front of a live audience. All ages, genres and musical capabilities are welcome to join in this evening’s fun, so be sure to stop by and check things out as things get underway right around 7 o’clock.
Dopapod stops through Portland for a show at Port City Music Hall as part of their 2014 Winter Tour. Dopapod is best described as a electronic band without computers that hold no regard towards musical and gentrifying boundaries and create a sound that is interestingly diverse. Tonight they’ll be joined by special guest, Boston-based death-funk dance trio lespecial. The party starts at 8 o’clock.
A great show will be going down at Blue on Congress Street in Portland this evening as Mousa, which is the new recording alias of local artist, Vinca Nez aka Aleric Nez, celebrates the release of his new record, Songs of the Universe, alongside special guest Clara Junken & Her Men. Tonight’s show is guaranteed to be chock full of lots of talent and pleasing tunes, so be sure to check things out as music gets underway at 8 o’clock.
Flask Lounge in Portland presents another open mic night tailored especially for DJs. Tonight’s event allows up-and-coming DJs to take a chance and get up on the tables alongside local veterans in the field. All you need to bring to participate are your records, CDs and controller. All formats of music are welcome as the fun gets starting right around 9.
Special Explosion and New Legs will be partying down at The Press Room in Portsmouth this Tuesday. Seattle’s Special Explosion kicks out some sweet jams that are self-described as “dreamo” alongside Portsmouth’s own party-markers New Legs. This show is free and gets underway right around 9, so be sure to check it out if you’re in the Seacoast area this evening.
Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland presents another fun-filled Tuesday of karaoke courtesy of DJ Ponyfarm. If you’re looking to sing along to all of your favorite 90s tunes, stop on by and do just that starting at 9 o’clock this evening.
Take some time out this Tuesday and chill with the fellas of Jaw Gems who’ll be bringing their unique brand of experimental jazz to life down at Local 188 in Portland. Starting at 10, you can check out these talented dudes as they lay it down all night long.
