The Exchange, a weekly open mic event which takes place every Tuesday evening at The Thirsty Pig in the Old Port, is a gathering open to any and all artists looking to collaborate, showcase, and workshop their original material in front of an audience of peers and music-lovers alike. All ages, genres and musical abilities are encouraged to join in on the fun as host Jim Betts gets things started during tonight’s free shindig right around 7:30pm.

Slab on Preble Street in Portland presents another installment of its Solo Music Series with the lovely and talented Monique Barrett.  Starting at 8 you can enjoy some delicious food and terrific live music as Monique sets up shop with her acoustic guitar and plays her original soulful folk tunes during this all-ages, free event.

This week’s edition of Live and Local at One Longfellow Square in Portland prepares to take concertgoers on a sonic quest for otherworldly transcendence as they welcome two out of the ordinary acts to the stage for a night of must-see music. Check out the instrumental sci-fi, prog-opera sounds of Superorder alongside the psychedelic, free-rock jams of Portland-based trio, Herbcraft. Check ‘em out starting at 8 o’clock tonight.

O.A.R. will be live at the State Theatre in Portland this Tuesday evening. The Ohio band is known for their blend of island vibe and alt-rock jams a la Dave Matthews Band, Bob Marley, Sublime and Phish. Tonight’s all-ages show gets started right around 8 o’clock with an opening set from LA pop singer-songwriter Andy Grammer.

All formats of music are welcome, so check it out if you’re hanging around downtown tonight.
