Check out Karma To Burn with Sierra, Kind & Pigboat at Geno’s tonight

Written by: Holly Nunan

We made it through another Monday, which means we’re well on our way to faking it ’til we make it this week!  It’s time to shine, so shimmy into your finest Party Parts and get after it tonight. Here we go!

Get your Tuesday evening started with a free show featuring local singer-songwriter Ronda Dale at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in the Old Port. Ronda will be performing an all-ages, acoustic set starting up at 7pm.

The Exchange, The Thirsty Pig in the Old Port’s weekly open mic event, is back in action this Tuesday. Tonight’s open mic invites any and all musicians who are looking to showcase, workshop and even collaborate with other artists on their own original material to the stage during this free, all-ages event. All genres and musical abilities are encouraged to join in as hosts Jim Betts and Joel Thetford gets things started right around 7:30pm.

Zakk Wylde brings his heavy metal band Black Label Society to the State Theatre in Portland tonight. This all ages, show will get rocking right around 8pm with opening sets from CT metalcore band Hatebreed and badass babes Butcher Babies

Slab’s Solo Acoustic Music Series continues tonight with back local musician Ian Gans. Stop by and enjoy a delicious slice as well as Ian’s own originals and cover tunes as things get underway during this free show right around 8.

Don’t miss another evening of great music from Portland’s only Brazilian choro ensemble, Choro Louco as they play a free show at Blue on Congress Street in Portland tonight. Choro Louco, which features local musicians Carl Dimow, Nicole Rabata, Joel Eckhaus, Eric Winter, and Kris Day, get things starting at 8:30.

Get ready to throw up some horns and have your face melted off by West Virginia heavy hitters, Karma To Burn as the band brings some heat to Geno’s in Portland with their instrumental stoner/desert rock. If you’re a fan of Kyuss (I love you, Josh Homme), Fu Manchu and/or Truckfighters, then I’d highly recommend getting your earholes over to Portland’s original rock club for a night chock full of roaring rock.  Portland’s own Pigboat will be on hand as well K2B’s tour mates, Sierra and Boston’s Kind. Things get crankin’ right around 9 o’clock.

Flask Lounge on Spring Street in downtown Portland presents another open mic that’s designed with DJs and producers in mind. The event allows up-and-coming producers and record spinners to take a chance up on the decks alongside veteran DJ Kid Ray. All you need to bring to are some records, CDs and controller in order to join in on the fun. All genres of music are welcome as things get underway during tonight’s free shindig right around 9pm.

Join Portland’s own folk-pop musician Jacob McCurdy for another open mic night at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port tonight. Jacob invites any and all musicians to hop up on stage and show off their musical capabilities during this free and fun event that gets underway right around 9:30.

Local trip-hoppers Jaw Gems return to Local 188 in Portland tonight to serve up some soulful psychedelic sounds during a free show that gets started right around 10 o’clock tonight.
