Shanna Underwood hosts another Songwriters in the Round event at Blue on Congress Street in Portland this Friday. Starting at 6 she’ll be joined by a couple of local singer-songwriters to play play some original tunes, tell stories about their songs, and improvise with each other during this free, all-ages show.
Merrill Auditorium in downtown Portland is host to this year’s Annual Music & Gospel Concert to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This family-friendly performance will feature freedom, roots, and gospel music with performances by local award-winning singer-songwriter Samuel James and the Green Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. The event will begin with an opening performance by the King Middle School choir and ensemble starting at 7pm and then evening will draw to a close with a song featuring all of the concert’s performers. This is truly a wonderful musical event not to be missed so be sure to check it out if you’re in Portland early this Friday evening.
Another chance to check out some great local talent in Westbrook happens once again tonight over at the Skybox Bar & Grille as they present an all acoustic showcase featuring performances from Dan, Williams, Esteba Vox, Ripple effect and more. Tonight’s event gets underway at 7 and will feature an open jam beginning at midnight.
Cayden’s Call will be rockin’ Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street with some rock, blues and pop songs starting right around 7pm. Local cover act, Magic Bus is ready to take you on a tour through the timeless music of The Who as they cover the hits, b-sides, and other obscurities throughout The Who’s discography during a live performance at the Gaslight Theater in Hallowell. Tonight’s rock n’ roll journey gets started at 8 o’clock.
After you hit the slopes of Lost Valley in Auburn be sure to stick around for tonight’s show featuring local act Zombie Beach. Starting at 8 Zombie Beach will be delivering some quirky, cool surf-rock and psychobilly during a free, all ages show.
Tonight you can catch Chapel Hill, North Carolina based string band Mipso live on the stage of One Longfellow Square as the act brings their folky Americana tunes to life during a headlining set.
