Check out Clara Junken tonight at Blue in Portland

Today is brought to you by the power of false energy, also known in my world as Red Bull. This Friday is going to be the longest and greatest day of my life as I bring some music news to the masses via the TV, go to work and pretend to be a high functioning adult, and then play a rock n’ roll show with some of my best pals this evening. This is truly the stuff that dreams are made of. So raise your glasses high and sing the praises of this finally Friday. There’s a ton of stuff to do tonight, so no excuses, hike up those Party Pants and get down on it this evening!

Local folk-rock trio Silent Sam & The Evans will be pleasing earholes this evening as they play a free show starting at 7 o’clock over at Local Sprouts. These fellas will put a little pep in your step this Friday evening, so be sure to swing through and check ‘em out.

Dark Follies, Portland’s own award-winning vaudeville troupe, celebrates five years of performances together with a show at Mayo Street Arts in Portland. Beginning at 8 o’clock you can join the act as they celebrate their fifth anniversary with live music, song, dance, juggling, and story telling.

Check out Vanessa Carlton’s piano-driven pop rock tunes as she takes to the stage of Port City Music Hall on Congress Street in Portland tonight. Blues rocker Patrick Sweany (whose song called ‘Them Shoes’ frequents my personal playlist quite often) will open the show with some songs starting right around 8 o’clock.

Down the street a tick over at The Asylum in Portland you can check out Collective Soul front man, Ed Roland’s new act, The Sweet Tea Project, alongside local opener, Hutch Heelan. Tonight’s show gets underway right around 8 as well.

If you’re south of Portland tonight and in dire need of some high-energy rock n’ roll then luck no further than the Bentley’s Saloon in Arundel where Seacoast rock act Red Sky Mary will be blasting off into the rock n’ roll stratosphere right 8 o’clock this Friday evening.

Classic Cuban music makers Primo Cubano will be playing up in Thomaston this Friday evening as they take to the stage of Billy’s Tavern for a set of high-energy Cuban tunes right around 8pm.

Local sax player, Kyle Hardy is joining forces with some other talented Portland musicians for a night of jazz at Elements: Books Coffee Beer in Biddeford tonight. Be sure to check out their free set starting right around 8 o’clock this evening.

A terrific evening of tunes will be taking place at The Oak and The Ax on Main Street in Biddeford as local experimental folk act Old Soul teams up with indie folk artists Dan Blakeslee and Jonah Tolchin for a show that gets underway right around 8 o’clock.

The duo of good ol’ boys, North of Nashville, make their way to The Frontier Café in Brunswick for some good times and good tunes at the unique and intimate venue. Anticipate tons of foot stomping and singalongs from these country lovin’ fellas as things get going right around 8 o’clock.

The Kelly Parker Band is ready to get down this Friday evening with some good ol’ fashioned country and western tunes for ya over at Iron Tails Saloon in Acton. Tap your toes and swing your hips as the action starts right around 8.

Starting at 8:30 this finally Friday you can check out some good eats and tasty tunes down at The Frog & Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook where Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies will be taking over with their own brand of twisted Americana/rockabilly.

Tonight at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland be sure to check out a great show that focuses on some terrific female-fronted acts. Starting at 9 o’clock you can check out sets from Clara Berry as well as The Reverie Machine. These ladies have some serious talent so don’t miss out if you’re hanging around downtown this evening.

Oh hey there, dance floor fanatics looking to bust a move to some of the smoothest house grooves around, take a trip down to Flask Lounge in Portland tonight where Mr. Dereloid and his club crew of DJs Billadelphia and Mee-Sho will be joining forces for a solid four hours of good vibes and good tunes. Do it to it, bust some moves, and spread some love this evening as this free dance party gets underway right around 9 o’clock.

I promise that there will be a little something for everyone at tonight’s show down at The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland. Beginning at 9, indie rocker, Dustin Saucier and his band, The Sad Bastards, team up with melodic pop-punk act, Volcano Rabbit and throwback garage rockers, The Desires for an evening chock full of good times and good tunes. This is The Desires’ (…my band, errr, awkward…) only show of the year so come watch us get weird on stage alongside our super-talented pals who decided it would be a good idea to share a bill with us.

Sly-Chi will be partying up in Boothbay this Friday evening where they plan to bring the funk all night long at the one and only Mine Oyster. The fellas dare you to dance to their energetic blend of jazz and funk as things get underway right around 9.

If you find yourself kicking around the Buxton area, be sure to check out some alternative rock and roll happening at Skips Lounge where beginning at 9 you can take in tunes from Left On The Outside, Two Forty Gordy, and 13 High.

Roots-Americana rocker, Jon Nolan celebrates the release of his latest record, Everything Has Changed with a show at Fury’s Publick House in Dover, NH tonight. Things get underway with an opening set of tunes courtesy of folk-rocker Elijah Ocean right around 9 o’clock.

Take in some new alternative rock at The Easy Street Lounge in Hallowell where the guys of The Band Apollo will be breaking things down starting right around 9:30 tonight.

Local act, The Dapper Gents will be rocking out some fun folk-pop Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port this evening. Grab some friends, drink some beers and enjoy some tunes starting at 9:30.

Get on up to Bray’s Brew Pub in Naples tonight to check out the fellas in Vinyl Tap as they cover everything from Huey Lewis, Elton John, The Beatles and many, many more. If you’re looking for a non-stop dance party, then swing through as they start playing at 9:30.

Starting at 9:30 check out a lively set from alternative rappers Indigenous Immigrants as they take the stage of Mainely Brews in Waterville for some raps, rhymes, and ruckus this evening.

If I didn’t have my annual Desires gig tonight I would most definitely be checking out this Friday’s show at Blue on Congress Street where the very talented and equally lovely Clara Junken will be playing some covers and originals this evening. You might recognize Clara from her work with pop-rock act Marion Grace. She sets out on her own this evening with a new band of backing musicians with a show that gets underway right around 10.

KGFREEZE frontman, Kyle Gervais will be donning his DJ hat this evening as his spins tunes over at Sonny’s in the Old Port. Starting at 10 o’clock pair a tasty beverage with some tasty tunes as KG plays stuff you love and stuff you didn’t know you loved.
