Locally-based guitarist, singer, songwriter and all around nice guy, Dave Jacquet is back to host another free open mic night over at Cole Farms in Gray this Wednesday. Starting at 7:30 all musicians are welcome to join Dave and a few of his friends on stage for an evening filled with songs as well as stories at this free and fun event.
Native Isles, which features a veritable who’s who of local talent, returns to Frontier in Brunswick this Wednesday evening as part of the venue’s Live in the Lounge free music series. With Emma Stanley on vocals and trumpet/flugelhorn, Tyler Stanley on keys and vocals, Pete Morse on guitar and vocals, and Andy Robbins on drums, tonight’s 8 o’clock show is guaranteed to be an awesome time. Get in some down home, acoustic roots tunes this Wednesday with David Beam and the Custom House Gang at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street tonight. The Frog and Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook welcomes back local blues artist Ron Gill for another blues-based open mic night. Local musicians Ryan Halliburton and Eric Lawson will join Ron during this free event that is open to any and all musicians who are looking to showcase their material live on stage. Things get started at this free and fun show right around 8pm.
Burlington band Binger will be bringing the fun to Flask Lounge in Portland tonight. The band manages to touch upon all kinds of different genres — even within the course of a song — by combining elements of groove, jam, hip-hop, psychedelic, progressive, ambient and experimental music into a cohesive sound that’s chock full of eclectic energy that is guaranteed to please. Things get kicked into gear right around 9 o’clock this Wednesday.
It’s the first Wednesday of the year which means it’s time to do it up big at Rap Night down at The Asylum in Portland where some of the local hip-hop scene’s best and brightest emcees and producers will be doing their thing starting at 9 o’clock. This week’s midweek party features showcases from new supergroup The Immortals which consists of remaining members of Tri-State Titans (High Grade and John Blaze) as well as Sick Potential (Living Proof and Fate 88), MC Label and Unique Divinci. There’ll also be early and late night open mic cyphers hosted by ill by instinct with El Shupacabra on the tables all night long, so swing through and check it out!
