Buck up, chums, as there’s no need to wallow in the misery of Monday especially when there’s so much awesome stuff to do tonight. So blow those Monday blues away by checking out some live, local music all around town (and beyond!) this evening. Here we go.
Monday means that Michael Krapovicky, of local rock act The Grumps, will be hosting another free open mic up at Pedro O’Hara’s in Lewiston. Get ready to play some songs and have some fun starting right around 6:30 this evening.
MJ’s Wine Bar in Portland presents another jazz, funk and soul night. Bass, drums, guitar and keys are all provided, and the house band, which consists of such talented local artists as Kyle Friday, Jacob Cooley, Tony Palumbo, and James Finison, are always welcome to having other players take to the stage and collaborate on some songs with them. As always, tonight’s event is free and gets grooving right around 7 o’clock.
The Voice finalist Vicci Martinez will be performing live at Port City Music Hall in Portland this Monday. At only 28 years of age, Vicci has already opened for or shared the stage with notables such as Sting, Annie Lennox, B.B. King, the Doobie Brothers, and Jonny Lang. Tonight’s all ages show gets underway at 7.
More open mic action happens at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco tonight starting at 7. Both solo musicians and full bands are encouraged to take to the stage and show off their musical abilities at this free event.
Up at Slates in Hallowell Pat Colwell and the Soul Sensations will be bringing dow the house with a masterful mix of Motown and Memphis soul that’s certain to make the most out of your Monday. Enjoy some old school R&B sounds courtesy of Colwell and his band, which includes a full horn section, as things get started right around 8.
If “free” and “fun” are what you’re looking for this evening head out to the open mic night that’s happening over at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland. Every Monday starting right around 8 Evan Walsh hosts his own version of an adult talent show in the form of a free open mic night. EvGuy even has instruments available for people to play, and even if you can’t actually play said instruments, he’ll help you out by playing a decent version of a song for you to sing!
Really there’s no need to be bummed out because it’s Monday, instead celebrate the fact that you successfully made it through the whole day with some bluegrass and pizza down at Otto on Congress Street. Tonight local picker Joe Walsh and friends will be providing a mighty fine soundtrack for your evening entertainment starting at 8.
Auburn-based, original four-piece rock-reggae band A Mighty Lion will be laying down the funky jams at Flask Lounge in Portland this Monday evening. Check out this free and fun show as things get underway at 9 o’clock.
