The night before Thanksgiving is ALWAYS a rager, so why spend it at the bar where you KNOW you’re going to see everyone you don’t really want to see from high school and get sucked into talking about stuff you have no interest in when you could be raising a vodka soda high whilst busting out some Party Pants-worthy dance moves? Do the right thing. Here’s where to work it out this Wednesday.
I’m pretty certain that no one really feels like cooking dinner the night before Thanksgiving, so why not treat yourself to some good eats and good tunes down at The Pepperclub/Good Egg Café in Portland this evening? Starting at 7, local pop-rock siren Andi Fawcett will be performing a set of songs that’ll pair perfectly with some tasty treats, so swing through and check it out.
Model Airplane returns to the stage of Port City Music Hall in Portland to give thanks for friends, family, fun, and funk with one epic party! The fellas will be joined by a plethora of musical guests, so swing through, bust a move and get down on it this Turkey Day Eve as things get underway right around 8.
If you’re down in Southern Maine this evening be sure to check out Princegiving, a tribute to both Prince and Madonna presented by Dean Ford & The Beautiful Ones at The Brunswick in Old Orchard Beach. Things heat up starting right around 8 o’clock.
Mama’s Boomshack gives thanks for old school, funky soul music with a show that is certain to put a little dip in your hip this Thanksgiving Eve as they take to the stage of The Hive in Kennebunk. These cats are ready to get things buzzing right around 8 o’clock.
Over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port you can check out another fun evening of folk tunes courtesy of local duo the Squid Jiggers. These fellas will be creating sounds that pair perfectly with an ice cold pint of beer, so swing on by and check them out if you’re in the downtown area tonight.
If you’re looking for some open mic action this Wednesday evening, then head on down to Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland where you can check out local musicians do their thing acoustically or even sign up to play some tunes of your own. Every Wednesday starting right around 8, local singer-songwriter Dustin Saucier hosts this free and fun event.
Frontier in Brunswick’s free music series, Live in the Lounge, continues tonight as they welcome some soulful jazz sounds onto the stage courtesy of the Adam Frederick Ensemble. Tonight’s show gets underway right around 8 o’clock.
If you find yourself hanging out in the Biddeford/Saco area this Thursday, take in some of the best roots, rock, an country music around at The Run of the Mill on Main Street in Saco where Cattle Call will be playing some songs starting right around 8 o’clock. Tonight’s show is absolutely free, so grab some pals and check it out.
Get your pre-holiday hangs on down at Brian Boru in Portland with some reggae-rock courtesy of The Beat Horizon. These fellas will be encouraging you to put your Party Pants and dancing shoes to good use as they start playing right around 8:30 tonight.
I gotta be honest with you guys, things are going to get down right sexy at this week’s Clash of the Titans over at Empire on Congress Street in Portland. This week two soulful – and steamy – R&B acts go head to head for the Clash crown as Lauryn Hill takes on D’Angelo starting right around 9 o’clock tonight.
If you’re kickin in the Lewiston area tonight, swing through Irish Twins Pubs starting right around 9 where Doctor Fatfinger will be busting out some great cover tunes for you to shake your groove thing to.
It’s been a minute since Rap Night Portland has been able to blow up your Wednesday evening with some superb live, local hip-hop. Tonight they celebrate their relaunch at The Asylum in Portland with one helluva comeback showcase featuring Ock Cousteau with DJ Rew as well as MC 22, Ill By Instinct and a late night open mic cipher. Word on the street is that El Shupacabra might be joining Ill By Instinct for his set, marking Shupe’s first show back since beating cancer! It should be one serious party that gets underway right around 9 o’clock this Hump Day evening.
I know that there are a ton of places to be at tonight as a plethora of talented cats are performing all around Portland, but I will be firmly planted at Geno’s to celebrate the last show of the Kurt Baker Band before my best pal, Kurt Baker, moves across the pond to Spain. Kurt is one helluva showman who knows how to properly rock n’ roll so I’m really looking forward to sending him off in true RnR style tonight by drinking, dancing and singing waaay too much. Rounding out tonight’s show are the one and only Covered in Bees as well as a debut performance from new thrash act Swarmlord. Oh, and if you bring a pie to the show, you get in for three bucks – come on now! So get down to Geno’s on Congress Street in Portland and party right on into the wee hours of Turkey Day with some of Portland’s best dudes and dudettes.
