Celebrate National Jazz Appreciation Month at Gingko Blue tonight with Gypsy Caravan

Ohhh, Thursday, you’re trying to be wicked tricky, trying to disguise yourself as part of the weekend with the massive amount of fun things to do and see tonight! I think that means we should pace ourselves and get it going tonight as it is, after all, thirsty Thursday and the party starts now!

Red Gallagher will be bringing his upbeat show filled with music and humor to the one and only Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland this evening. Starting at 6 o’clock, check out Red and his musical repertoire that spans jazz, blues, folk, country, and rock and includes standards from all eras of popular music. With tunes and tales, it’s sure to be one helluva show, so check it out if you’re downtown this evening.

If you find yourself up in Hallowell tonight be sure to stop on by The Liberal Cup for some fun and funky jams courtesy of The Desperate Avikadoz. The fellas will be bringing the party to life starting right around 7.

April is National Jazz Appreciation Month and Gingko Blue on Fore Street in downtown Portland is celebrating all month long with some great acts. Tonight they welcome Gypsy Caravan on stage for some manouche style gypsy jazz. It’s a free show, so stop by and take it in as things get underway at 8 o’clock tonight.

North of Nashville will be rocking it this thirsty Thursday over at Brian Boru in the Old Port. Starting right around 9, the fellas will kick things into high gear with some country & western, rock & roll and a little bit of honky tonk & twang. It’s a free show upstairs that’s always a ton of foot-stomping fun so check it out if you’re be-bopping around downtown later this evening.

Vinyl Tap are geared up to get down tonight over at Gritty’s in the Old Port with their delightfully danceable cover tunes that range from Huey Lewis to Cee Lo Green, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, The Dead, Charlie Daniels and so much more. There’s never a cover charge and plenty of beer, so check it out starting at 9:30.

Mathew’s on Free Street in Portland is becoming quite the musical hang with everything from metal, rock and tonight some hip-hop. Starting at 9, check out a lively set from alternative rappers Indigenous Immigrants as they take the stage for some raps, rhymes, and ruckus this evening.

Hello Newman celebrates three whole years of continuing 90s nostalgia with their 149th show at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port tonight. Get down to some of the best, live 90s jams for free, upstairs, starting at 9:30.

The Big Easy in Portland’s regular, chilled out Thursday night crowd will be shuffling in right around 9:30 for this week’s Band Beyond Description show. What to expect: hula hoops, hippies, and good times for all with Portland’s favorite Grateful Dead cover band, who actually cover way more than just The Dead – think The Allman Brothers, Phish, The Band and more. So if you’re into mellowing your mind with some good tunes and good people then get your can over to The Big Easy.

Portland pop-rockers Kilcollins settle in for their regular Thursday night show down at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland. Starting at 9:30, these fellas will be rockin’ and rollin’ it to all the classic cover tunes you know and love, with some fun originals sprinkled in, so check ‘em out.

And the big ol’ 80s and 90s alternative dance party continues this Thursday down at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland with another edition of DJ Silverchild’s Hang The DJ! Starting at 10, get ready to dance it out to everything from The Cure, The Pixies, Morrissey, Bjork, The Offspring and more.
