Portland musician Amos Libby is well known for his work in the Middle Eastern ensemble, Okbari, but tonight he takes to the stage of Blue in Portland once again with his latest musical endeavor known as The Ghosts of Johnson City. The Ghosts of Johnson City finds Amos alongside Douglas Porter, Erik Neilson and Erik Winter as they bring to life their own simple and soulful versions of old mountain music, Civil War songs, coal-mining melodies, tunes of love and loss, and haunting murder ballads from the American South. Don’t miss out on this free, all ages event as things get underway right around 6 o’clock.
If you’re looking to blow off some steam with a little bluegrass then make some moves to Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in the Old Port as the Potato Pickers take to the stage for a free show beginning at 7 o’clock.
Psychedelic indie rockers, ShaShaSha will make their way to The County tonight for a 2-night stint at Eureka in Stockholm. Things will kick-off around 7 with a set of songs from the ever-talented Travis Cyr, so if you’re waaay up Maine this Friday, be sure to check it out!
Baxter Brewing celebrates 4 years in the beer biz with a party at Port City Music Hall in Portland featuring powerhouse vocalist Anna Lombard and her band, funk and soul act, Model Airplane and DJ sets from mosart212. This 21+ shindig gets swinging right around 7 o’clock with the whole lineup of Baxter beers on tap and on special all night, including the debuts of two new varieties, so don’t miss out!
New System Laundry on Parris Street in Portland will be host to an enticing evening of rock and roll as three terrific acts take to the stage for some must-see music. Things get underway around 7:30 and will feature sets from heavy-hitting RnR trio Battery Steele, indie rockers Endless Jags and Boston’s own Soft Pyramids.
Things will be swinging up at Lisa’s Restaurant in Augusta as The Juke Joint Devils return to kick out some old time, hard driving blues tunes during this free show that gets underway right around 7:30.

Sparks the Rescue’s Toby McAllister goes solo tonight for an acoustic performance at the Silver Street Tavern in Waterville tonight. Beginning at 8 Toby will be performing some of his favorite STR originals as well as some covers of popular tunes from the past 20 years or so.
Legendary singer-songwriter Jonathan Edwards will be live on the stage of One Longfellow Square in Portland this finally Friday evening. Starting at 8 o’clock Edwards will be playing his beloved blend of country and folk-rock. Anticipate some singalong moments during his songs “Sunshine” and “Shanty”.
Roll through and bump Flask Lounge in Portland’s dance floor with Mr. Dereloid, Atomik, Dwight Album and more as the bring some big sounds to the table to help you properly work it out this Friday. This free dance party gets shaking right around 9.

Mainely Brews in Waterville welcomes The Calypso Soldiers to the stage for a night filled with modern and classic rock, funk, country, and blues and tons of tunes for you to move to. Starting at 10 they’ll be covering a wide variety of artists and styles as well as performing some of their own original material during this free, 21+ show.
