Bust a move at Wild Thing tonight at The Asylum

It seems as though Tuesday isn’t letting up and will not be allowing us any down time to wash the good times off of our trusty Party Pants, so might as well just hike ‘em back up — crusty with last night’s poor decisions — and get back out there.  Let’s see what the what is for this evening, shall we?

Another evening of Open Rounds will be happening at Blue on Congress Street in Portland where beginning at 7 o’clock three random entrants will be put together to do a songwriters round of tunes for the audience. Then right around 8:15 featured artist and folk singer, Matt Shipman will perform some of his original songs. Tonight’s event is free and guaranteed to be a fun time, so swing through, check it out, and maybe even play a song or two!

Lately I’ve been spending my Tuesday nights down at The Asylum in Portland where DJs Kurt Baker and Mark Curdo spin all of the best party tunes to shake your can to all night long! I truly encourage y’all to bust out your finest Party Pants and cut a rug with me because it’s gotten a bit embarrassing for Kurt when he looks out to see just me working it on the dance floor. I mean, I’ve seen his face and the sadness that is drawn upon it is quite upsetting if not heartbreaking. So follow me down to the basement tonight for Wild Thing, a serious dance party featuring the finest garage rock, mod, wild soul, punk, new wave, surf, maximum R&B and more. It’s a dollar to get in and there are $1 beers and $3 well drinks to keep you hydrated as you hit the dance floor. Things get shaking right around 8:30 tonight, so stretch it out and then check it out!

Boulder, CO jam band, Leftover Salmon will be bringing some solid sounds to the stage of Port City Music Hall in Portland this Tuesday evening. Things get cranking with an opening set courtesy of Floodwood, which features members of the band moe, right around 8 o’clock.

Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland is all geared up for another edition of Drop It: Open Decks Night this Tuesday. Starting at 9 you can stop by and sign up for a spot DJing on some open tables. All you’ll need to participate are some tunes and headphones – all genres of music are welcome!

Over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland, DJ Ponyfarm presents another entertainment-filled evening of free karaoke.  That’s right, if you’re looking to belt it out and be your own rockstar this Tuesday evening, you can do just that starting at 9 o’clock tonight and with absolutely no cover charge.

Another spot to show off your musical capabilities is over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port as lead vocalist of The Dapper Gents, Jacob McCurdy hosts another open mic event.  Tonight Jacob invites everyone onto the stage to show off musical talents right around 9:30.

If you’re looking to take some time out this Tuesday night and chill out to some experimental jazz then mosey on over to Local 188 on Congress Street this evening where the Jaw Gems will be doing their thing from 10 o’clock until closing time.
