Bissell Brothers celebrate their one year anniversary with Paranoid Social Club and more at Empire tonight!

Dudes, I’ve had Friday on my mind since Monday, so I am incredibly happy that the weekend is only a few hours away. In fact, it’s so close that I can almost taste the delicious vodka sodas that I’ll be enjoying this evening, so fill ‘er up and get out there, let’s Friday!

Local folk artist Chris Ross will be performing a free show at 4Points BBQ & Blues House in Winterport this evening. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop in an enjoy some tasty food paired with some terrific songs and stories as things get underway during this all-ages performance right around 5pm.


Bissell Brothers Brewing Company celebrates an entire year of crafting some of the tastiest local beer around with one helluva party at Empire in Portland this Friday. Things get underway around 9 with DJ sets from Spose, Luke Mallett of the Mallett Brothers Band, and Loretta Allen of The Other Bones followed by a performance from rock and rollers Paranoid Social Club. Get ready to rock out and enjoy some delicious BBB beers at tonight’s sweet shindig!


Don’t miss out on a free show from local act An Overnight Low as they perform and early set around 6 at Blue in Portland this evening. Anticipate lots of smart, fun indie pop-rock from these talented gents as they do their thing this Friday.


Earlier this year, local musical act Batimbo Beats was invited to perform at the International Festival of Raleigh in North Carolina, which is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the group of Burundian drummers and dancers. The event is a prestigious, two-week long celebration of the world’s cultural heritage through traditional folk music and dance. In order to attend, Batimbo Beats must raise money to pay for travel expenses and lodging. That means that tonight you can help them out by attending this evening’s performance at Mayo Street Arts in Portland as the band will perform with a group of dancers for the show. Traditional Burundian drumming is incredibly lively and you can expect to see the band members balancing the 40lb drums on their heads, ritual dancing, and the occasional air flip as things get underway at 7 o’clock.


Tulsa singer-songwriter Patrick Coman returns to Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland tonight where he’ll be backed by his talented band as they play a fun mix of Americana, rock, blues and country tunes. This free, all-ages event gets shaking right around 7pm.


Local Americana folk duo Silent Sam and the Evans return to Local Sprouts on Congress Street in Portland for a free, all-ages show that starts up at 7 o’clock tonight.


If you’re up in the L/A area this evening you can get your Friday night started out right with some great tunes courtesy of singer-songwriter Michael Krapovicky. Beginning at 7, Michael will be playing some acoustic covers and originals at this free show over at Gritty’s.


Godsmack’s Sully Erna will be playing a special solo show up at the Gracie Theatre in Bangor tonight. Things get underway right around 7:30pm.


The Black Lillies bring their rich, rootsy tunes to the stage of One Longfellow Square in Portland tonight. Rolling Stone Magazine calls them one of “the most buzzworthy new acts in country and Americana,” check ‘em out for yourself as things get started at 8pm this Friday evening.


A great night of rock and roll with be taking Mathew’s in Portland by storm this Friday and all for a very good cause as The Skummymen, Zombie Beach, Tommy and The Rats and Thee Icepicks take to the stage starting at 8 to raise some funds for local animal shelters.


Intelligent pop meets both Americana and folk this Friday evening as local rockers Welterweight take to the stage of Blue in Portland for a free performance that starts up at 8 o’clock.


Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies take over the Frog and Turtle in Westbrook tonight with their epically fun brand of twisted Americana and rockabilly. These fellas always know how to have a good time, so be sure to check ‘em out during tonight’s free show, which gets started right around 8pm.


If you’re getting your Friday on south of Portland tonight, don’t miss a fun night with local pop rockers Sparks the Rescue as they bring the party to the stage of the Kerrymen Pub in Saco starting right around 8 o’clock.


Local singer-songwriter Lauren Crosby will be bringing her blues-infused folk tunes to Guthries in Lewiston this Friday evening. Don’t miss this free, all-ages event as the music begins at 8pm. 


If you’re spending your Friday evening in Waterville, check out singer-songwriter Ron Bergeron as he plays a free show up at Silver Street Tavern.  Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 8 with tons great covers from The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and more.


Sam Shain and The Scolded Dogs will be bringing the party to Rooster’s in Augusta with a free show featuring their instant party mix of original jams as well as classic covers that span all kinds of different genres and artists like of Parliament, Johnny Cash, Snoop Dog (Snoop Lion? I never know.) and more. The good times get rollin’ around 8.


Maybe you’re feeling a little nostalgic and looking for the perfect reason to bust out any and all neon gear you might’ve been hanging onto from the 80s. Well look no further than Seasons in Bangor where eightysomething will be rocking all the very best 80s tunes starting at 8 o’clock.


Local organ-based trio, Micromasse will be playing a free show with a few special guests at Elements in Biddeford this Friday. Check out the melodic and mesmerizing sounds that Chris Sweet, Max Cantlin and Pete Dugas make together by combining guitar, drums and organ as they pump out some superior instrumental jams starting right around 8 o’clock.


Local jazz performer Viva will be bringing her vivacious vocals to Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in Portland for an evening of jazz standards and Latin tunes that are done with a fun and modern twist. This free event gets underway right around 8pm.


It might be December but The Brunswick in OOB still knows how to heat things up as they get ready to party with dance pop act Tickle tonight. Things get shaking right around 8:30 during this free shindig, so get out there and shake your groove thing if you’re in the area tonight!


If you’re doing a little skiing or snowboarding this weekend don’t miss your chance to check out Central Maine pop-rockers Tomorrow Morning as they play a free show up at The Rack at Sugarloaf. Starting at 9 these fellas will be playing tons of great original and cover tunes.


If you’re looking to get down this Friday then do not miss tonight’s show with Brooklyn power funk act Turkuaz who will be tearing it up onstage at Port City Music Hall alongside special guests Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Plan on a party and lots of tushy shaking as things get cranking right around 9 o’clock.


Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland hosts another installment of their super fun Foundation Friday event. Each and every second Friday of the month you can join Mr. Dereloid and special guests for a free dance party featuring the finest underground dance jams around. For this month’s edition, special guest Ed Garrison and Christopher Gauthier will be teaming up with resident DJ Mr. Dereloid for a funky, fresh night of dance tunes that’ll get your rump shaking staring at 9 o’clock.


Time to whip out those oversized sport coats and bust a move tonight as Mainely Brews in Waterville welcomes the Talking Heads tribute band, Start Making Sense to the stage this evening. Get ready to burn down the house as well as make your dreams come true as Hall & Oates tribute HmfO gets the party started right around 9:30pm.


Dapper Gents frontman, Jacob McCurdy goes solo this evening with an acoustic set at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port. Jacob will be adding some fun pop-rock gems to your evening’s soundtrack beginning at 9:30.


Brian Boru in the Old Port welcomes back Boston’s Lovewhip to the stage for a non-stop dance party this Friday. Scooch your pooch on over to Boru’s right around 9:30 to bust a move or two to the band’s excessively fun electro-disco-pop.


And last but certainly not lease, the Acadian Aces are back at Blue on Congress Street in downtown Portland tonight to serve up some authentic Cajun tunes starting right around 10 o’clock.
