Written by: Holly Nunan

Cheesus Crust, it’s Thursday and I still really haven’t gotten into the actual swing of things yet this week. It’s a good thing that the weekend is right around the corner because I’m not certain if I could actually pull it together more than a couple more days. It’s been a crazy week, but it’s almost over, so cheers to that and let’s do it to it this thirsty Thursday!

Blue on Congress Street in Portland welcomes back contemporary bluegrass act Cumberland Crossing for another night of of bustling bluegrass with a free show that gets kicking right around 7 o’clock. Directly following the band’s set will be an all out bluegrass jam that’s open to any and all musicians who wanna join in. Swing through, warm up and have some fun tonight if you’re kicking around downtown.

Across the street from Blue, local act Pretty Girls Sing Soprano will be taking to the stage of Local Sprouts to fill the space with some beautiful sounds during a free, all ages show that gets started during the 7 o’clock hour.

Over on Commercial Street, Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes back local artist Sorcha to perform a set of songs featuring her eclectic and impressive blend of soul, rock, country, folk and everything in between during tonight’s free show, which gets underway at 7pm.

Nick Racioppi of local rock-reggae act A Mighty Lion will be going solo tonight for a free show out at Fire House Grille in Auburn. Join Nick as the good times start rollin’ right around 7:30.

The Rhythm Kingz will be rockin’ The Cage in Lewiston with another Blues Night. Tonight’s free party starts at 7:30 and will feature a ton of awesome, local blues tunes, so check it out if you’re up that way this Thursday.

Louisville rockers Tantric will be at Port City Music Hall in Portland this Thursday. Internationally acclaimed vocalist and electric violinist Susan Aquila will kick things off with a set of tunes that bridge the gap between rock and Classical music starting at 8 o’clock tonight.

Portland’s all girl rock and roll act BABE says goodbye with a final farewell show at SPACE Gallery in Portland tonight. Don’t miss your last chance to see the devastatingly awesome starlets in action as the show doubles as their EP release party. Joining BABE on their final RnR journey are local heavy hitter Purse and space-punk-party-rockers Hopeless Losers. Feel all of the feels while having some fun as things get started right around 8:30 tonight.

Local pop-rockers, Kilcollins are back on the stage of RiRa this Thursday as they get the party started at 9 o’clock with their party mix of original jams and awesome cover tunes. Tonight’s show is free so swing through if you’re Thursdaying in the Old Port!

Brian Boru in the Old Port will be getting funky this Thursday with some urban Chicago blues courtesy of Mike James’ Blue Lions. Tonight’s free shindig starts upstairs right around 9:30pm.

Bramhall on Congress Street in Portland will be filled with some of the best bluegrass sounds around as the Jerks of Grass return with their toe-tapping tunes during tonight’s free show. Grab some pals and have some fun as things get going right around 9:30.

Work it out tonight to some of the best tunes from 90’s from bands like Sublime, Blink 182, the GinBlossoms, Everclear, No Doubt and even Chumbawumba (yes, I just said Chumbawumba) at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port as crowd favorites Hello Newman get the party started right around 9:30.

Vinyl Tap is back at it tonight to play a plethora of songs that are certain to get your Thursday night rocking and rolling. Starting at 10 at Gritty’s on Fore Street in the Old Port, you check out covers of Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Huey Lewis, Elton John, Charlie Daniels, and much more.
