Awesome Kong rocks Flask Lounge with a free show tonight

Hooray for Thursday! Not only are we making some serious strides to the freakin’ weekend, but we’re also being blessed with some serious fun as tonight offers up a surplus of awesome things to do. So go ahead and get your Thursday on, babies!

April is Jazz Appreciation Month down at Gingko Blue on Fore Street in Portland and tonight they continue their celebrations with some free tuneage courtesy of local act Hot Club Du Monde. Hot Club Du Monde will be making some noise and having some fun with their unique brand of stringed gypsy-jazz as they hit the stage right around 8. Tonight’s show is free and sure to be swinging, so check it out if you’re hanging around the Old Port this Thursday. 

Get your folk-pop and good times on with Portland’s Dapper Gents down at The Run of the Mill in Saco tonight. The fellas will be kicking out some good tunes and good times starting right around 8 o’clock.

Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland will host local act Awesome Kong this Thursday evening as the group prepares for a full night of funk, hip-hop and dance. Starting at 9, check out some original music from the band’s debut album as well as some fun covers you know and love. It’s a free show, so stop on by and see what’s up.

Rock it out tonight down at Geno’s on Congress Street in Portland where they’ll be celebrating the birthday of employee, Brittany, with a line-up of local bands that are certain to help her have one helluva hatch day. Get ready to party starting at 9 with Looming Disaster, Phallus Uber Alles, The Never Nudes and Dead Man Ramsey.

Kilcollins are reared up and ready once again to pop rock Thursday night away with a free show down at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland. Starting at 9 this bunch of dudes will be busting out all sorts of songs that you know and love alongside some of their own catchy originals.  

North Hampton’s Mammal Dap will be making a stop in Portland tonight with a free upstairs at Brian Boru’s where they’ll be firing up a rambunctious blend of Afrobeat rhythms, blue-eyed soul and indie-rock goodness starting right around 9:30.

If you’re looking to bust a move to some of the 90s best alternative rock jams this Thursday then head down to Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port where local cover band Hello Newman will be getting the party started right around 9:30. Tonight’s show is free and bound to be a bunch of fun, so check it out. 

Talented local pop-rock troubadour Jake Roche will be playing a free acoustic set at Sonny’s in Portland tonight. Beginning at 10 stop on by, enjoy a delicious drink and let Jake serenade you with some songs that are certain to please your earholes. 

The fellas of Vinyl Tap are ready to bring the Thursday night thunder to Gritty’s in the Old Port tonight as they bust out some danceable cover tunes that range anywhere from Huey Lewis to Cee Lo, The Beatles, Charlie Daniels and everything in between. There’s never a cover charge and plenty of beer, so check it out starting at 10 o’clock.
