Andrew W.K. shows Portland how to party tonight at Studio 250

Something about sunny days and climbing temperatures makes it very difficult to be productive and/or responsible. I’m just going to keep my eye on the prize and hurdle this hump just like everyone else, thankfully there’s a light at the end of this Hump Day tunnel as there are a bunch of great shows to check out all around town. So power on through this Wednesday and reward yourself with adult beverages and good tunes this evening.

I have a feeling things are going to get a bit crazy down at Studio 250 on Read Street in Portland as the one and only Andrew W.K. makes his way to the stage for a live, solo performance as part of his Human Party Machine Tour. Also on deck to perform at this all ages event is The Motor Creeps, Pecan Sandies, Encore and Breeding Strength. Things get started right around 6 o’clock.

Lorraine Bohland and Terry Foster team up tonight to infuse your Wednesday chock full of jazz, blues and R&B classics down at Gingko Blue on Fore Street in the Old Port. Check out this talented pair of musicians as they provide the soundtrack for your midweek wind down starting right around 6 o’clock. It’s free and there are a ton of fancy drinks to sip upon whilst you treat your ears to some quality sounds, so stop on by and check it out!

SPACE Gallery welcomes a very unique singer-songwriter with some undeniable guitar playing capabilities to their stage this evening. Tonight be sure to check out Nashville’s William Tyler as he plays a headlining set alongside Portland’s own Aleric Nez and Christopher Pulsoni. Tonight’s event chock full of lo-fi guitar aesthetics gets underway right around 8 o’clock.

If you find yourself south of Portland tonight be sure to check out a terrific evening of roots courtesy of Jeffrey Foucault and Cold Satellite with special guest Dana Gross down at The Oak and The Ax in Biddeford. This evening’s show gets started right around 8 o’clock.

Local acoustic duo, Uke n’ Smile, will be hosting a new open mic event at the Frog & Turtle in Westbrook this evening. Beginning at 8 o’clock all reasonably capable musicians are more than welcome to play some tunes or you can come and sing and the fellas in Uke n’ Smile will play the music for you. It’s free, fun and yummy drinks and food are on hand as well, so if you’re in the area tonight, be sure to stop by and check it out.

If you’re out in the Old Port this Wednesday evening then head on over to Bull Feeney’s on Fore Street where the Squid Jiggers return to the stage for an evening of tunes that are perfectly paired with a tall pint. Tonight the duo gets the good times rollin’ right around 8 o’clock for this free event, so stop on by and stomp your feet for a while.

Tonight you can also check out some free open mic action down at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge in Portland for this week’s open mic hosted by local singer-songwriter, Dustin Saucier. Starting right around 8, you can check out local musicians as they do their thing on stage or even sign up to jam out a few tunes of your own. As always, tonight’s event is free-of-charge and certain to be a good time.

Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland is ready to party with some progressive pop rockers Emma Ate The Lion, Newcastle, and Beach the Whale get ready to throw down on stage tonight. Things get crankin’ around 8.

Local folk-rocker Brian Patricks will be providing the soundtrack to your Wednesday evening as he plays a plethora of originals and covers during a free set down at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland. Beginning at 8:30 you can check out some fun tunes courtesy of Mr. Patricks.

Things will most definitely be popping off at this week’s Rap Night hosted by Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra. Tonight the fellas welcome a plethora of local talent to the stage for this evening’s showcase. Starting at 9 check out sets from Northern Lights Nation, Click North, Rapper Ashley and Wisdom as they throw down all night long on stage at The Big Easy in Portland.
