Adam and The Waxmen get festive & funky at The Frog and Turtle tonight

Written by: Holly Nunan

Take on this Tuesday with some magical musical action! This week is super merry and bright, so settle in with some great live tunes. Here are the haps for your Tuesday night!

The Emmett Harrity Trio will be performing at Blue on Congress Street in Portland this Tuesday evening. This talented trio of local musicians will be jazzing things up with some classic standards as things get underway right around 6 o’clock.

Fast Breaks in Lewiston welcomes local singer-songwriter Ron Bergeron to the stage for a full night of music. Ron will be serving up tons of great songs starting at 6:30 including covers of The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and maybe even a little Lady Gaga. If you’re in the area be sure to stop by and check out some good times and good tunes during this free show.

Poor Howard returns to Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in the Old Port for some acoustic, old school Louisiana blues. Tonight’s all-ages, free show starts up at 7 o’clock.

The Frog and Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook will be filled with holiday cheer as Adam and the Waxmen take to the stage for some soulful renditions of classic tunes, Christmas songs and funky originals. Tonight’s special spirited performance gets underway at 7 o’clock.

Tonight’s open mic event known as The Exchange returns to The Thirsty Pig in the Old Port. This evening’s gathering is open to any and all musicians that are looking to collaborate, showcase, and workshop their original tunes in front of an audience of peers and music-lovers alike. Hosts Jim Betters and Joel Thetford will keep the night rolling with some of their tunes as well as encouraging artists of all ages, genres and abilities to join in on the creative fun. Things get swinging right around 7:30 tonight.

Another awesome open mic event that is specifically designed for DJs and producers happens once again at Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland. Tonight’s open mic gives new record spinners a chance to get up on the decks alongside veteran and resident DJ Kid Ray. All you gotta bring to join in on the action are some records, CDs and a controller. Things get underway right around 9pm.

Of course Tuesday night means it’s time to hang with local trip-hoppers Jaw Gems down at Local 188 as they serve  up some soulful psychedelic sounds during tonight’s free show, which gets started right around 10.
