Functional but feminine Nuthatch: all linen, all Maine-made

As I’ve gotten older, my personal taste sways toward the minimal and classic much more than it does towards the current trends. Although, OKAY, I do have several tribal print jumpers that I realize I won’t wear after this summer. I’m not perfect, okay?!

I first spotted the simple, modern shapes of Nuthatch, a new Maine-made clothing line, in the store window of fourTwelve. After perusing the small collection in the store, I made a mental note to look up the line as soon as I got off the 2:15 ferry.

The line begins with fabrics first, using only natural fibers like linens and cottons, always washed for that broken-in softness right from the start. The styles are decidedly functional but feminine too. Sometimes when we think about slipping into linens, we think of rumpled pieces or J.Jill oversized tunics. Luckily, Nuthatch has quelled that misconception at first glance.

Some of my favorites from the line include the Easy Top and Artist Smocked Dress. This is a line to watch. I can’t wait to see what they come out with next.
