Falmouth Goodwill Reopens: Is Bigger Always Better?

Written by: Laura Serino

The Falmouth Goodwill has always held a special place in my heart. It was one of my favorite stops on a Friday night, straight from work, paycheck in my pocket. I’d scour the racks and find gems like Frye boots and vintage, oversized wool cardigans. I must have been living under a rock, because I found out that the old location has closed and reopened in the same shopping plaza in a bigger space. I felt a twinge of pain course through my veins. I decided to check it out.

One of the things that I liked most about the Falmouth Goodwill was the size. It was small enough to race through within an hour. It was stocked with little gems. I never left empty handed.

The new location is much bigger, sure, but now it lacks some of the charm the old one presented. I don’t know all of the staff anymore! The changing rooms with the great lighting are gone!

I shouldn’t complain. I think all of the things I dislike about the new spot will be fixed in time. For example, I noticed a bulk array of the same Calvin Klein sweaters. I’m sure this is just the stocking of a new store that happens anytime a new location opens. But among all the Talbots, Calvin Klein and old Forever 21 castoffs, I was missing some of those special hand-me-down touches that the other store had.

Except for this. I did find this.

That said, I ain’t mad atcha Goodwill! I’m sure as donations pour in, you’ll regain your same charm that the previous location had. It’ll just be in a much bigger space.
