The investment piece. It’s something that doesn’t come around that often in your closet, but when it does, it will last you for years, maybe a lifetime. An investment piece doesn’t come cheap either. Think a Burberry Trench, a crisp white Ralph Lauren shirt. I bought my first investment piece my first year out of college. A Marc Jacobs wool coat at the Barney’s Warehouse Sale. I ended up bouncing my rent check but I still have that gem in my closet 7 years later and I probably won’t ever give it up.

I spotted these young friends home on break from college and wanted to know what was in his Barbour bag. He told me it was empty – he was already wearing his purchase. Behold the classic Barbour Jacket. An investment piece for sure, but something he’ll have for years to come. There’s even a tumblr dedicated to it! I’d also say that his Ray Bans are another piece that won’t ever go out of style. So basically this guy doesn’t ever have to buy clothes again. He’s set.
