They’ve sung in packed auditoriums in around the world. They rock out to the electric guitar and sing contemporary and classic tunes at the top of their lungs. Many of them, like Arthur, use a walker or cane to get to their spot on the stage. This is the Young@Heart Chorus, where for over 30 years elderly New Englanders have defied the labels that accompany their age to embody the wild and rebellious spirit of rock-n-roll.

I like to see live music but I always seem to find myself leaving between sets to find a bite to eat or worse yet, trying to grab a bite beforehand, only to get to the venue and be boxed out of the action. Here are a few places that serve solid food with a side of music and what they’re offering through the end of the weekend.

Mama’s Crowbar

Mama’s Crowbar is a cash and beer only kind of joint. They do not have hard liquor or wine, but do carry beers that are made in the United States, gluten free and two cider choices, for those that can’t handle the brew. Fri is the best night of all with .50 off all drinks if you are knitting. That’s right, a knitters night.

We rolled up on the Olde Post Office Cafe, right on the main drag and sitting on Lake Minnehonk. Inside we found a quaint space with seating for about 20, an impressive menu of breakfast and lunch items, and a case full of homemade desserts, snacks, and takeout items.
