The first night of the annual Brunswick Ice Bar was comfortably mild—great for holding ice-cold Manhattans outside, not so great for the ice sculptures. Friday and Saturday nights are anticipated to be colder—and far busier, with Saturday night already sold out to capacity of 500 tickets. For Friday, tickets are $16 through BrownPaperTickets or $20 at the door. Enjoy ice-cold drinks from the beverage luge and cozy fire circles outdoors and appetizers and a deejay dance indoors. The Ice Bar is at The Brunswick Hotel and Tavern at 4 Noble St., Brunswick, 5 to 10 p.m. each night. Sponsors include Sam Adams, Angry Orchard, Maine State Music Theatre, Goodall Landscaping, Gritty’s, Boothbay Craft Brewery and Midcoast Edge.

Thursday night was warm enough that the ice bars were drippy, and one of the ice sculptures fell apart.
With the temperatures outdoors so comfortable, few guests Thursday night hit the dance floor... except these women doing some impromptu scarf dancing. Too warm to wear scarves? Dance with 'em!
