mainetoday.com editor Shannon Bryan has a fondness for Maine’s peculiar goings on. And helmet cams. There’s definitely a fondness for helmet cams.   Since she arrived in Maine from the Midwest seven years ago, it’s been her mission to experience it all firsthand – from the cardboard boat races to the paddleboard jousting tournaments. With any luck, she’ll persuade you to try it, too.

Still time to MAMM SLAM

Written by: Shannon Bryan - mainetoday.com editor - sbryan@mainetoday.com

PORTLAND – Can’t be a rock star if you don’t get out and ROCK!  Sure, mother nature hasn’t made it easy to motivate this winter, but now is the time to gather the band and register for MAMM SLAM! To accommodate the slackers, the Maine Academy of Modern Music and Portland Music Foundation will extend the registration for the 2013 MAMM SLAM (Maine’s hottest high school battle of the bands) until March 17th.  That cool 1K sponsored by the Rusty Rocket Foundation (www.rustyrocket.com), along with coveted recording time, TV appearances, radio play, plum gigs and professional marketing direction is still up for grabs.  Register at www.mainetoday.com/mammslam.

The MAMM SLAM is sponsored by MaineToday.com, Coffee By Design, State Theatre, AO Guitars and Gateway Mastering, with support from WCYY, WBLM and Maine Magazine.  For information call 207-899-3433 or email info@maineacademyofmodernmusic.org, and check out Facebook: MAMMrocks and Twitter: @mammrocks for updates.
