Maine mustaches cannot be contained! Not in a single evening, anyway. The annual Stache Pag, a mustache pageant and celebration of facial hair, returns March 29 to Ocean Gateway in Portland. Now in its 7th year, the Stache Pag affords mustache wearers an opportunity to let their staches take center stage. Men and women compete in four categories: The Magnum PI (natural mustache), The 1899 Maine Legislature (styled mustache, no beard), The Thigh Tickler (anything goes) and the Castaway (full beard, natural). They’ll each have the chance to showcase their stache’s personality on the catwalk and in front of a panel of celebrity judges. The crowd will have its say, too.
And while the main event is staying true to its roots (follicles?), this year’s facial hair festivities have grown. A lot.
Introducing the first annual Facial Hair Fest, a five-day celebration of mustaches and the people who love them. And the people who love the people who love mustaches. Portland Facial Hair Fest runs March 26-30 at Ocean Gateway and a few other Portland venues. The fest includes a Facial Hair Farmers’ Market, the Canadian/American Beard and Mustache Competition, the Stash of the Titans and the International Moustache Film Festival, and the Stache Pag.
Here’s the schedule:

Thursday, March 27: Portland Facial Hair Fest
