MAMM SLAM: Registration open for MAMM’s 2015 battle of the high school bands

MAMM SLAM is back.

Registration is now open for MAMM SLAM 2015, Maine’s hottest high school battle of the band, put on by The Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM). This year, MAMM is teaming up with, a podcast about Maine music hosted by local musicians Trent Gay and Kevin Kennie and featuring guests from all walks of musical life.

The MAMM SLAM allows teen bands and solo performers (singer/songwriters and DJ’s) to compete in showcasing their songwriting, performance skills, web presence, marketing and other aspects of being a professional touring and recording musician.

Winners have a crack at $1000, sponsored by the Rusty Rocket Foundation, along with coveted recording time, radio appearances, plum gigs, a tour of Gateway Mastering, and professional marketing direction. will oversee the judging of the competition.

The preliminary round will be held on April 11 at Bayside Bowl in Portland and the finals are May 9 at Asylum in Portland.

2. Complete the form and return to Maine Academy of Modern Music
Be sure to include completed registration form, $25 registration fee, two demo songs (mp3s) and a hi-resolution band photo, all labeled/named with your band name.

MAMM SLAM 2014 was a showcase of local high school talent, with band and solo performances taking the stage. Ten bands competed, but only a handful move on to the finals. Check out photos and video from the prelims.
