Registration for MAMM SLAM 2015, Maine’s hottest high school battle of the bands, has been extended to March 21 for a very cool reason:
Maine College of Art (MECA) just made the MAMM SLAM prize package even sweeter by offering scholarships to MECA of up to $16,000 a year to each member of the winning band. This is in addition to an already robust prize package, which includes a $1000 cash prize sponsored by The Rusty Rocket Music Fund, free recording time in a professional studio, premiere gigs including a performance spot at the MAMM Stage at the 2015 Old Port Festival, a tour of Gateway Mastering studios and much more.
Put on by The Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM), MAMM SLAM allows teen bands and solo performers (singer/songwriters and DJ’s) to compete in showcasing their songwriting, performance skills, web presence, marketing and other aspects of being a professional touring and recording musician.
Winners have a crack at $1000, sponsored by the Rusty Rocket Foundation, along with coveted recording time, radio appearances, plum gigs, a tour of Gateway Mastering, and professional marketing direction. Freezingprocess.net will oversee the judging of the competition.
The preliminary round will be held on April 11 at Bayside Bowl in Portland and the finals are May 9 at Asylum in Portland.
