MAMM SLAM: 6 high school bands head to finals May 10

Saturday’s MAMM SLAM prelims were a showcase of local high school talent, with band and solo performances. But only a handful could move on to the finals. Those bands are: Guilty Bystanders, If You Insist, Cover One Eye, Simple Burden, Pretty Nice Weather, and the mainetoday.com Wild Care: Fading Dawn. Finals are May 10 at Asylum.

Saturday’s MAMM SLAM prelims at Bayside Bowl were a showcase of local high school talent, with band and solo performances taking the stage. Ten bands competed, but only a handful move on to the May 10 finals. Check out photos from the prelims.

MAMM SLAM is out on by Maine Academy of Modern Music and Portland Music Foundation, and winners have a crack at $1,000, sponsored by the Rusty Rocket Foundation, along with coveted recording time, TV appearances, radio play, plum gigs and professional marketing direction.

Playing for Change Foundation is helping MAMM execute their mission by expanding their musical and social knowledge globally.
