Student musicians: You could win $1,000 at MAMM SLAM 2016

MAMM SLAM 2016 | Complete MAMM SLAM rules

MAMM SLAM brings teen bands and solo performers (singer/songwriters and DJ’s) together in a friendly competition that showcases their musical talents. They’ll be judged on all the elements that matter in real-world music careers, including songwriting, performance skills, web presence, marketing and other aspects of being a professional touring and recording musician.

Put on by The Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM), the MAMM SLAM prize package is also pretty sweet. Winners have a crack at $1,000, sponsored by the Rusty Rocket Music Fund, along with coveted recording time, radio appearances, plum gigs, a tour of Gateway Mastering, and professional marketing direction and scholarships to Maine College of Art (MECA) of up to $16,000 a year to each band member. Awesome, right?

NOW is the time to register (you have until March 18)! Here’s what you need to do to complete your application:

1. Download, complete, save and email the MAMM SLAM 2016 Registration Form (.pdf format) to:

3. Submit 2 Demo Songs (through email or mail)

4. Submit Band Photo (through email or mail)

5. Pay $25 nonrefundable Registration Fee (through mail)

The preliminary round will be held April 9 at Bayside Bowl and the finals will be held on May 14 at the Portland House of Music & Events
