The 10-day forecast shows that warmer afternoon temperatures are upon us. Warm afternoons prove that snow is melting and winter is coming to a close. You need an amazing Spring get-away. I don’t often give away my “secret spots,” but today I’m feeling generous. I’m going to throw just one destination your way and it’s a winner. Here it is: Reserve a camp spot at South Branch Pond in Baxter State Park.
I promise three things about this location. 1) You’ve never seen such pristine water with better clarity – it’s like you’ve stepped back in time. 2) It’s quiet. I mean, really quiet. In a good way. Limited sites ensure an enjoyable vacation. 3) The hiking trails offer great views of Baxter Park and the serenity connects you back with nature again.
The crystal clear waters are ideal for spring/summer paddling and are shallow enough that they get warm quickly for early evening swims before enjoying a nice fire-side meal. Enjoy these few shots that I like to reflect back upon.
