Check out Purple Brainz: A Halloween Tribute to Prince at Port City Music Hall tonight

Oh hey there, rockers and rollers! Just one last push to the freakin’ weekend! Things kick off with a mighty big bang this Thursday so make sure you’ve done your stretches, taken your vitamins and pressed those Party Pants because it’s high time that we do it to it this evening. Let’s roll!

If you your Thursday evening finds you in the Augusta area be sure to check out singer-songwriter Ron Bergeron as he performs a free show Rooster’s this evening.  Ron will be getting things kicked into gear right around 5 o’clock with tons of tunes including great covers from The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and more.

Sam Shain and The Scolded Dogs will be bringing the party to the Montsweag Roadhouse tonight for a free show that’ll feature their killer mix of original jams as well as classic covers that span all kinds of genres and artists like Johnny Cash, Parliament, Snoop Dogg, and more. The good times start rolling along right around 6 o’clock.


Maine musician Steve Jones and a few of his friends will be making some noise at The Liberal Cup in Hallowell this Thursday. Jones and company blend everything from rockabilly, country, old-time rock and roll, Americana, roots and more to create some mighty fine tunes that are guaranteed to please. If you’re in the area be sure to stop through and have some fun as things get underway at 7.


Los Angeles-based electronic music trio, The Glitch Mob will be making some noise at The State Theatre in Portland this Thursday. The super-group of instrumentalist and producers will be joined by San Fran electric act M Machine as things get underway right around 8.


Local act The Rhythm Kingz will be getting things swinging at The Cage in Lewiston for this week’s installment of Blues Night. The party starts at 8 and features a full evening of blues, so be sure to stop through if you’re in the area this Thursday.


Kick off your Halloween festivities a night early at Port City Music Hall with Purple Brainz 2, a tribute to the music of Prince featuring Dean Ford and Renee Coolbrith. Party like it’s 1999 as original Revolution keyboardist, Dr. Fink as well as the über talented Maine Youth Rock Orchestra joins the band for a night of ghoulish revelry. Tonight’s tribute to The Purple One gets underway at 9.


If you’re south of the border tonight check out a great indie rock show happening at The Press Room in Portsmouth with The Box Tiger. Music starts right around 9 o’clock.


Maine musician Cassidy Holden will be performing at Blue on Congress Street in Portland this Thursday evening. Holden specializes in double bass, guitar, and banjo and plays for dancers with passion and commitment to a mutual expression of the art form of jazz. Cassidy promises a swingin’ good time as things get underway during this free event right around 9 o’clock.

Portland pop-rockers, Kilcollins are back on the stage of RiRa in the Old Port this Thursday as they party down with a mix of original tunes and danceable cover jams. Tonight’s free show gets cranking at 9 o’clock.


Local music duo Humperdinck Humperdink and Glass Joe (aka local musicians Corey Gagne and Pete Dugas) reprise their Thursday night residency this evening as they prepare to play live in the lounge of Sonny’s in the Old Port. The pair serves up some swanky old school tunes for your Thursday beginning at 9 o’clock.


Local folk-pop act The Dapper Gents are back at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port tonight for some fun times and tunes. These fellas will get the party started right around 9:30 at this free Thirsty Thursday shindig.


Brian Boru in the Old Port prepares for a straight up dose of funk and soul with just a little bit of rock n’ roll as Chronic Funk plays a free show upstairs this Thursday. Starting at 9:30 things get fresh, fun and funky so swing through if you’re downtown tonight.


From the infectious beats of Mike Clouds, to the goth-rap-metal of Vinyl Cape, the freestyle grooves of Crimewave, the awesome dance selections of Mosart 212, all the way to the intense punk-ethos hip-hop of CT’s Zak G, Empire in Portland has got your Halloween Eve covered. Don your creepiest get-up and get down as things get underway upstairs right around 9:30.


Vinyl Tap brings the Thursday night thunder to Gritty’s on Fore Street in Portland. Starting at 10 these fellas will be doling out some fun cover tunes that include everything from Elton John, The Band, Huey Lewis, The Beatles and more.
