The best all-natural, hippie deodorants

I’m happy to be a guinea pig for most things, especially in the world of beauty products. I decided to test a few different all-natural deodorants over the past month because it’s one of those tricky categories for me. I tend to fall in love with one and then feel decidedly ambivalent a few weeks later. Here are 4 all-natural deodorants that are not the pits.

Tom’s of Maine
Purchased at Hannaford for $4.99
I am a big supporter of the Tom’s of Maine brand and many of their products – especially their toothpaste. I’ve tried many of their deodorants in the past and their Long Lasting definitely works better than their original. Full disclosure: I am a sweat-er. I sweat while exercising but also from standing still sometimes. This deodorant is a great daily option, but it did not provide me with much help during an evening yoga class. I also had to re-apply it one afternoon, but the scent is lovely and I was happy with the overall performance.

Herban Cowboy for Her
Purchased at Whole Foods for $6
My bootcamp partner-in-crime suggested this deodorant to me while we were on the topic of natural body products. She mentioned it was the only thing that could keep her smelling fresh during strenuous activities. She was right. This deodorant smells great and truly kept me stink-free during boot camp and a run. If you’re nervous about deodorants working for you, I’d suggest you give this one a try.

Naturally Fresh
Purchased at Royal River Natural Foods for $4
Ah the deodorant crystal.  I had to get used to putting on deodorant that instantly make me feel damp under my arms. But once this dried, it performed well. I didn’t have to reapply it during the day ever. This is a great option if you have extra-sensitive skin since it is mineral based.

Weleda
Purchased from Soap.com for $12
I dropped some major change on this deodorant. Since I’d never tried a spray before, I decided to try this non-aerosol option (I am devoted to the Weleda Wild Rose eye cream for life). Truth be told, this feels more like splashing some perfume under your arm pits – but it works! The light scent held up well during a yoga class and I love wearing it every day. It’s become my new favorite though it still feels weird spraying deodorant on. I’ll get used to it.

Now tell me: do you have an all-natural deodorant favorite? Every try a deodorant cream? I’d love to know!
