What to wear while thrifting

There’s a science to what you wear before you head out on a thrifting expedition for clothes. Here’s my thrifting uniform.

Go make-up free!
First, I felt the need to call this out because I look like I could use a lot of concealer in this photo. But this isn’t the space to be vain! Here’s why leaving the house without any foundation, powder, blush is a good idea.  Ever find a beautiful white blouse at a thrift shop and then see MAKEUP on the collar? It drives me nuts so I vow to never leave anything behind while trying on clothes. It’s good karma.

Lightweight layers!
There is nothing worse than carrying a big bulky coat around with you while you work up a sweat scanning the racks. I tend to layer easily so if I get warm throughout the day, I can leave a layer behind in the car or tie something around my waist.

Hands-free bag!
Whether it’s a cross body or a fanny pack, having free hands to rummage through bins is key. You don’t want a tote on your shoulder weighing you down.

So long socks!
This makes slipping into a pair of potential shoes a breeze. If you’re in the market for boot shopping however, you might want to wear a pair. I tend to seek out sequined pumps so I outfit my feet accordingly.

Thrifting ensemble in action!

Do you have any good thrifting tips? I’d love to hear!
