Nordstrom Rack opens tomorrow at Maine Crossing

Until very recently, I’d never heard of Nordstrom Rack. For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s an off-price division of Nordstrom with a collection of clearance items from Nordstrom stores and specialty merchandise for the Rack with significant savings. I’m talking up to 70% off name brands.

This location is the 125th Nordstrom Rack to open in the country. Who knew there was so many?

I entered the store and made a beeline for the dresses. What a selection. Lush dresses (a Nordstrom Junior’s brand) were all under $25 and in tons of great colors and patterns for summer. I could have easily scooped up five and left without any guilt.

I was impressed with their selection of body care products. They carried brands like Bliss, Caudalie and Keratase at bargain prices with plenty in stock. They even had a full selection of Neutrogena products starting at $2.

major regret = not buying these pants

Of course the best selection, in my humble opinion, were the shoes for both men and women. Designer brands are pulled out in a special shoe section where I ogled suede sandals by DVF and some insane Roberto Cavalli stilettos. Alas, even at the discounted rates, it was more than I was willing to spend. But if you are a designer devotee, I can’t imagine finding a better place to score some great, on-trend bargains.

And like any good launch opening, there were bartenders. Why haven’t stores realized this should be a shopping fixture yet?

The big grand opening is tomorrow with pre-opening festivities starting at 8 a.m. There will be music, breakfast treats and a chance to win one of 30 $100 gift cards. And trust me, $100 will get you a lot here. You can stay in the know and follow our local Nordstrom Rack on twitter for in-store promotions and events. Let me know if you get there this weekend and share what you think!
