Lobster, beer, cupcakes and more red flavors for Valentine’s Day

Red: The color of fiery sunsets, movie-star lips and the fastest sports cars. It’s bold, sexy and confident; the reason designer Bill Blass famously said: “When in doubt, wear red.” It’s also the color of Valentine’s Day, but instead of hearts and roses, we’re thinking food and drink. As in steamed lobster, red velvet cake and our favorite regional hot dogs.

Oysters, steak and chocolate mousse are so … well … ordinary; this year, how about an entirely red menu for your sweetheart? Here are a few ideas to get you started:
