Fiesta! 2016 Cinco de Mayo Celebrations

Maine may be well north of the border, but that doesn’t keep us from celebrating Cinco de Mayo with our favorite Mexican foods, live music and margaritas.

Hola! In the mood for the kind of celebrating that involves margaritas, music and merriment? Fantástico! Cinco de Mayo is upon us and although there’s a misconception held by many it is Mexico’s independence day, you are certainly free to enjoy drink and food specials, do some dancing, and snag some free swag.
Cinco de Mayo is actually in commemoration of the Mexican army’s defeat of the French during the Battle of Puebla 154 years ago. North of the border, we tend to mark the occasion by tipping back tequila and sweet margaritas. Here are some places where you can do just that. Now then, dónde esta la cerveza?

¿Qué pasa? It all starts on May 3 aka Taco Tuesday during which free gifts will be given to the first 100 people to order tacos. Noche de Familia (family night) is on Wednesday, May 4 and it’s a kid-friendly celebration. On Thursday  the 5th expect the biggest party of the year at Margaritas. They’ll be giving away playing cards, key chains, coffee mugs, temporary tattoos, pint glasses, selfie sticks and you can purchase a souvenir shirt. Drink specials will include the Moscow Mule, Baja Burro, Proseccoritas and Mayan punch. On Friday (May 6), it’s the Cinco Recovery Party to celebrate that the next Cinco de Mayo is only 364 days away.

¿Qué pasa? They’ll be serving up suckling pig roast with all of the trimmings, $2 tacos, $2 draft and $3 bottles of Mexican beers, $5 select house crafted margaritas and $15 select tequila flights. Giveaways will be happening all day and in the evening a special chef tasting dinner will be offered.
